Failure of teleworking exposes secrets and lies

.

The fact that teleworking hasn’t been adopted on a large scale by most companies, is most likely due to fear of their secrets and lies being exposed.

In other words, they find it hard to control ‘security’ when it’s not under their own roof.

Am I correct in this thinking?

Telecommuting or teleworking hasn’t been adapated because:

 1. Most work in most companies today is totally imaginary, virtual, fake does not produce anything anymore, is a make believe job;

 2. Most of the work consists of convincing your boss - bosses that you are somehow valuable, that what you do is important and necessary;

 3. Since nothing you do today in modern corporations really matters, the boss doesn’t see you if you work at home, so he sees just how useless you really are, the lie of modern day work is exposed, the deception is exposed and the boss realizes that he could very well get along without paying you at all, hence no one wants telecommuting;

 4. Corporations can only measure the amount of time you are “at work”, the amount of time “they see you”, like in JAPAN, where the worker has to stay until midnight to wait that his boss goes away, because he cannot leave work before his boss, what they guy does until midnight is totally irrelevant, only the sacrifice in time is really imporatant, being that all the other variables cannot be measured, since nothing is really being produced anymore;

 5. Corporations try to confuse and hide this state of things by always creating new skill sets you have to “master”, always creating moving targets, always creating situations where they are sure you can never achieve and never deliver.

I agree with what you are saying.

But, I walk to work.

And though some people do do my work by computer, it seems to me very alienating; I thank God for the rich human contact involved in my profession. It is sincerely my raison d’être.

Telecommuting could be used alot more, but it is only another example of a greatly underperforming “future” that never came. There are untold numbers of possibilities that the future was supposed to deliver, like Artificial Intelligence, Completely Automated Factories with Robots, New Energy Sources, Decreasing Work Day and less time at work, etc. All these have not come and society as a whole has gone mostly backwards in almost everything. The whole idea of Progress is over, is finished, all kinds of progress whether technological-scientific and especially social progress is totally dead and gone. But we do have a whole lot of religious fundamentalists around…

Ridiculous.

Preposterous in every way.

You expect AI, robots, new energy sources, all in what - 50 years? It’s coming, it’s just more complicated than had first been thought, and as you illustrate, people have become less and less patient.
