I love this, even the many emerging stories on the net, explaining from within India how this is a obvious scam, one of the most obvious ever, have comments of angry frustrated Indians completely skipping over the arrival, complaining they can’t sign up, have been trying for hours… they are absolutely desperate to get ripped off.
The parts cost way more in pieces than the so called final price of the phone. All the logos are IPhone logos, it is clearly labeled as a Chinese firm who reconditions these phones… from used phones… sold at way more than this is being pushed for.
But you know what… you get some smiling Indian women posing with this, with shamefully gullible displays if Indian Nationalism… they even hand painted a Indian flag on the back of the phone… and everyone is hooked.
Pakistan is snickering like crazy right now, seeing this. It is absolutely impossible to pull a smart phone of those specs off at that price. I guarantee the networks for 3-G in India would collapse if it was true.
No other country would allow for this to carry on as long as this has. Its promised to ship 4 months from now to boot! Four months! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Not saying others haven’t fallen for such scams before, I did… but I was 12. Countries are supposed to have governments that stop this sort of thing from going this far. Unlikely given Modi’s “Make in India” is currently in full swing, and this scam is playing to the patriotic theme. India is a victim of it’s own Nationalism and Naivity.
I seriously doubt this is the first scam ever to hit India… What caused everyone to go crossed eyed at the pitch of this and say “Sham-Wow” instead of looking skeptically at this? Don’t they have consumer affairs, or reporters? I know full page ads were taken out in newspapers, but don’t these same newspapers have reporters? Why didn’t they approach this skeptically the second the ad appeared, do the math, ask the experts, and conclude it is a blantant fraud?
India was the birthplace of skepticism, and it clearly has none now. I still see no police stories of police raids on the head quarters. You better get the owners before they fly out the country!
