"Fake In India" Campaign

m.indiatimes.com/news/india/here … 50897.html

I love this, even the many emerging stories on the net, explaining from within India how this is a obvious scam, one of the most obvious ever, have comments of angry frustrated Indians completely skipping over the arrival, complaining they can’t sign up, have been trying for hours… they are absolutely desperate to get ripped off.

The parts cost way more in pieces than the so called final price of the phone. All the logos are IPhone logos, it is clearly labeled as a Chinese firm who reconditions these phones… from used phones… sold at way more than this is being pushed for.

But you know what… you get some smiling Indian women posing with this, with shamefully gullible displays if Indian Nationalism… they even hand painted a Indian flag on the back of the phone… and everyone is hooked.

Pakistan is snickering like crazy right now, seeing this. It is absolutely impossible to pull a smart phone of those specs off at that price. I guarantee the networks for 3-G in India would collapse if it was true.

No other country would allow for this to carry on as long as this has. Its promised to ship 4 months from now to boot! Four months! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Not saying others haven’t fallen for such scams before, I did… but I was 12. Countries are supposed to have governments that stop this sort of thing from going this far. Unlikely given Modi’s “Make in India” is currently in full swing, and this scam is playing to the patriotic theme. India is a victim of it’s own Nationalism and Naivity.

I seriously doubt this is the first scam ever to hit India… What caused everyone to go crossed eyed at the pitch of this and say “Sham-Wow” instead of looking skeptically at this? Don’t they have consumer affairs, or reporters? I know full page ads were taken out in newspapers, but don’t these same newspapers have reporters? Why didn’t they approach this skeptically the second the ad appeared, do the math, ask the experts, and conclude it is a blantant fraud?

India was the birthplace of skepticism, and it clearly has none now. I still see no police stories of police raids on the head quarters. You better get the owners before they fly out the country!

I think that as an Indian, I should at least thank you for showing that much interest in India.

Keep it up.

With love,
Sanjay

Zinnati, India is the most important country in the world for a American worried about constitutional issues, your legal system is very similar in it’s origins, but the instincts of the actors absolutely different.

In the US… we say “No, this is unconstitutional” and we don’t do it, but it’s taken on axiomatic faith, where we can at best point to some guy in a wig and dress who fucked it all up in the 1600s, or in Ancient Rome or Greece.

With India… you guys do this for us constantly. Your country is therefore precious too me. Its like a bizarro America on a parallel planet on the opposite side of the sun… everyone wear suits and eyepatches, with a inverted color flag.

When I’m asked “Well, why can’t we do X”, I can usually find it from some horrific event in the near history in India, and the legal reasoning for it is usually sufficient, not to mention in English.

I will for this reason always keep a sharp eye on Indian events. Not because of BRICS, or it’s rising status, but because it has a instinct to plow in randomly into philosophical positions the rest of the world, especially the US, knew on faith not to do, but can’t give obvious recent reason why not to (how can we, it’s usually illegal).

China can’t do this on nearly the same scale, only Hong Kong uses British law. Africa is too spread, too many legal systems, doddgy in reporting… the continent isn’t nearly as interested in reporting on itself as India is. Europe is as lame, if not lamer than the US in taking the safe course. Only India is the great wild west of wild political thinking. wild I am so thankful for it, your country has opened my eyes to so many things, and gave made my arguments as to WHY NOT TO DO CERTAIN THINGS better.

Freedom 251, a smartphone that costs $4.50… it’s theory is built on pure scam principles, riding high on pure patriotic rhetoric and high ended idealism of a “Yes We Can” mindset.

I saw the pictures of his father’s deeply impoverished store, that he took his loan out from to start this recently… he certainly lacks the funds for this. He has no licences. No real land holdings for a factory. Various government agencies blown away as they never heard of him, much less got licence approval. He thinks he can get a factory built under 4 months and meet supply… you can’t do that in India, Apple can’t even get in that quickly with it’s Apple Stores, impossible to be approved that quickly, too much regulation and bribing needed to overcome hurdles in that timetable.

This would be no different than say, HaHaHa starting a space company, offering $100 flights to the moon, everyone needs to buy their tickets now, reserve your tickets, for the year 2036. How will he do it? Economy of scale. See… he can get more money from selling tickets to start up, than NASA or the ESA can for their spacecraft…

Freedom 251 is now a universally known story for scam. Its unfolding as we speak, still no police raid. You might get parts discounted when bought in scale, but the parts still cost alone way, way more. Every Indian cellular manufacturer is looking at this as completely fraudulent. This guy has absolutely no capacity to pull this off. If he somehow magically pulls it off, then EVERYONE in India will pull the same ideas out of their ass, and the economy will collapse into mayhem. “Want a new car? I will build one for you for $20, just pay 6 months in advance, order now!” by some homeless guy in Mumbai. “Want a new prefabricated home, I will build one for $12… media traces the businessman as being a Veddas in Sri Lanka, never owned a home, just wanted on the get rich quick doing nothing bandwagon.”

This sorta thing will happen continuously if this guy somehow magically makes this happen. He can’t though, and everyone who understands economics know this. So either way, it is a amazing learning experience. The daily suspense is killing me.

Long Live India.

We all are jumping with joy and making Mexican waves to cheer you.

Thats very insulting to Mexicans. You should have more respect for other cultures.

I am hugely disappointed this time as you have not even mentioned India in this post.

This thread was about India. Just as Shieldmaiden’s Australian Centric worldview is on Australia, Maia is England, Sauwelios/Fixed Cross on Netherlands, Cezar on Bosnia (can’t wait to discuss his country’s national anthem lifted from the movie House Party next time he talks about Bosnian superiority). I’ve brought up a good number of nationalities on this site actually. Just we never seem to get any Chinese.

I would post some if you never existed, but since your a member, you get the same crapfest everyone throws about regarding their countries. You deserve it given your nationalist strain. You never bring up any philosophers beyond a nod towards Buddhism… maybe if you started a few threads on topics of Indian philosophy. Forum doesn’t know much about Asia… for some stupid reason there is a very firm, sick to the stomach divide between western philosophy (not even full western, just Prussian centric) versus Asian (every Asian a mystic nihilist). I tried holding discussions on both eastern andvwestern, the population of the philosophy groups would change, wouldn’t interact for anything, some sickened at the mere suggestion we would discuss a Japanese or Indian philosopher next meeting. Shit never ceased to piss me off, and your attempt to make Zinnati’s Ego = Protection of India just reaffirms the impossibility of ever achieving international dialogue to the point that our philosophers grasp what terminology is interchangeable, and hold discussion moving beyond the old into the new.

I get it. You don’t wear clothes, you drap yourself in the Indian Flag. drop everything you do is the pride of India. Ever consider your country is worthy enough in it’s own right to be the topic of scrutiny and allegory? US gets constantly analysed in both flattering and deeply unflattety ways. Botswananas have a fucking opinion about my country. Why? Nobody questions why, but you get uncomfortable when someone looks at India. I will continue to look, but knowing your here, active, and predictably nationalist, I will post more than I otherwise would. Thats life, learn to enjoy it… at least someone bothers to pay attention.

Secondly, since when you started thinking of others respect? That is a news to me!

No thread of yous so far does not give any indication that you have any respect of others. You say that Indians are fools. Chinese are fools. France and other European countries are stupids. The Russians have no minds. According to you, your other neighbouring country Canada also deserved to be concqered. And, not only that, half of the human population (females) use to fake pain while giving birth to critical thinkers like you?

And, all of a sudden, Mexicans become very respectable to you!

Secondly, my which act made you think that I disrespect Mexicans! Would you like to elaborate!

With love,
Sanjay

Turd,

I apologise that I forgot to mention Australia in that list. Please read it along.

Thanks.

With love,
Sanjay

I also like Finns. And Bhutan. I like lots of countries. You just never notice because your always dwelling on the negative.

And I generally like Indians. But I dispise foolish nationalists, you and shieldmaiden fall into this camp. But I’m also one who watches cognitive processes, I despise the nationalism in you, but is that the sum of Zinnati? I doubt your a as narrow minded as you project yourself as bring, your undoubtedly far more complex than you know how to express. It is far less a language issue, or cultural divide, than you think.

But don’t worry Zinnati, Fake in India has come out with a new phone to replace Freedom 251, now you have Freedom 651!
