Fear

Couldnt be bothered to read the whole thing, but just to coment on this. Love can destroy fear, and give a person great strength in its place. Ive heard many a story of women having their children attacked and having the strength and corage to fight rather than take flight. I even heard of one woman who fought a bear to alow her children to escape. Saying that fear is more powerfull as an emotion is quite simply wrong

Who said “more powerful”?

I said rooted in.

well you said preceeds so…

Fear is for the weak - to overcome one’s fear: is to conquer many / one’s self…

Most fear stems from the psyche, or the self. This fear is not nessesairy but fear of a rattlesnake’s rattle is (for survivial).

My fear of snakes in general, appears unjustified: as there are none loose in London - I do put this down to a past ‘innate survival instinct’ as it is totally irrational and defunct: for the streets of London town!

I don’t mind spiders / insects in the least, but my bro screams like a girl: when he spots one crawling in the corner of a room - he has no fear of snakes / I have no fear of spiders / our 2 older sisters, and parents: fear neither - go figure…

But what if you were to leave London?

…but even a picture elicits a dramatic negative reaction towards ‘them’ but my reaction is 100-fold if they are moving and writhing on TV/the big screen, yuck!

Having never come across any: while going about my daily business: means such an ongoing fear is unwarranted - even I feel it is an irrational fear, considering my history of urban life: i.e. why has it not worn off: due to environmental conditions?

Um how do you know there are none loose in London? They could live nicely in the catecombs and sewer systems below the city and I am quite sure they can slither up pipes if need be. You have rats, and snakes absolutely love rat meat. Pet stores sell snakes to kids and adults, Parents tend to flush unwanted critturs down toilets, Folks tend to not keep cages tight all the time.

I know of one rat snake that is 7’ long. Bruno seems to keep growing, he is about 15yrs old. I would think there are a few snakes slithering around unnoticed. I have a snake in our walls, I never see him except maybe once a year if that, he is good vermin control. I leave him be. I find his shed skin occasionally. He is about 4’ now

OMG!!!

…even just reading that made me wanna heave! But surely my reactions should lessen: knowing that the environment is much safer than if I lived in the country, and was therefore surrounded by ‘them’?

If one knows this: then why doesn’t the reaction: to the thought of the cause of the phobia, lessen?
