When are we able to get to the bottom of life, nervous systems, and consciousness?
So no matter what we’re stuck with arbitraries. We’re on this side of the inner circle. We’re looking from the outside. In doing this we assign an arbitrary name or category.
TSM, it fact, parody’s that we do this with “GOD.”
Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac?
He stayed up all night wondering if there really was a dog.
I never thought this thread would go anywhere. And I thought Felix would probably kick it to Mundane Babble.
But now that arbitrariness has come up … The FSM might take us somewhere that’s not the joke I intended.
Quite. Although FSM is really a pardoy of the creationists attempts to blind side people with the IDiot movement, a mutton dressed as lamb bunch of creotards with an agenda to change the American constitution to one that better suited them.
It’s already all about you. Everything everyone says is specifically geared towards you, whether it mentions you implicitly or explicitly it is about you. Join us sinner and or heathen, you know it makes sense.
We have stripper factories and beer volcanoes in heaven, what of it? Well I mention it because plainly all other religions are wrong if we promise them better heaven. In your face Jesus.
“And yey they rolled away the cheese wheel and Cheesus was still stuck to the wall.”
You don’t know unless you have some way to test it. But correspondence of one form to another is a step up from arbitrariness which is what I take the spaghetti monster meme to imply.
No, it doesn’t. It postulates a figure. Explicit postulation is the opposite of presupposition. It’s like what reverse engineering does. More difficult to test though. Mainly in the thought experiment stage as far as I’m aware. God versus multiple universes, for example. It’s philosophy. You don’t like it?
The only question is of course how FSM managed to create a midgit a mountain and some trees and shit and all that other stuff, in 4 days when god took 5, and thus likewise created the first four day weekend, beating God hands down and proving he is not up to FSMs might.
I got drunk on the silliness on the Pagan thread. I mean what? Spells, incantations, and such? Are we still primitive tribes people? Do we still boil cauldrons of frogs and other shit?
Hey out there!!! We’re on the World Wide Web. Those days are long gone. Let them go already. Or go back to the bush, rocks, and trees. And boil frogs that produce hallucinations. Have a jolly old time … in yer fantasy world.
Pagans are as bad as fundamentalists … with their reaching back to the days of man’s ignorance.
Without question.
The real question is what to do about it.
Ye-ole average person hasn’t the time to study the detailed logic behind the concepts and thus resorts to merely faith in what some other group has professed even when it doesn’t seem to make sense… and to the point that it really doesn’t make sense any more (the fundamentalist). Science has the same problem.
See, I was thinking more along the lines of getting over the whole is it true or not thing, and looking at it from a different angle. Otherwise, the FSM will keep rearing its ugly head.
The only time Gods involve detailed logic is when theologians get behind them and make the shit up. Those are the people who make it their business to make Gods seem relevant when they no longer are. The fundamentalists don’t render the concepts senseless, they just carry the concepts to their logical conclusion and, in doing so, show how senseless they were all the time.
