Asking bigger fools questions is foolish. Of course you may not know in advance. A foolish question’s foolishness should not be dependent on whom you ask. Either you really should know yourself or the question is useless or answers itself. Other than that, if you don’t know and you’d like to know I don’t think it matters who you ask.
Though asking a uniformed policeman where you can score some weed would be foolish.
