Just curious about political affiliations. Obviously this will only apply to Americans, as they are American political parties. Okay, down south we also have Mexicans voting in our elections, but let’s limit this to US citizens, okay?
Next Tuesday is a pretty big day. I will have to drive 100 miles to vote, having neglected to re-register when I moved here. There are some pretty important things on the ballot this time, and I’m anxious to cast my vote.
I am a registered Libertarian, for what it’s worth. Since I didn’t include Commie, I suppose Kropotkin had to pick Democrat. (Just giving you crap, Pete!).
I’m not sure what people think of “Libertarians” or if this term means anything outside of the US. A Libertarian tends to make a lot of references to the Constitution as the law of the land. We hold that to be the supreme law, and feel that probably 85% of the laws we have now are superfluous at best and illegal at worst. We also believe fanatically in limited governement- a true, dyed-in-the-wool party man would go so far as to say 90% of the govermental agencies should be dissolved. Libertarians are broadly in favor of the decriminalization/legalization of drugs, too.
So I have no more issue with Dems than Republicans. Both of them suck, IMOHO. My main problems with Dems is the institutionalization of Big Goverment, their love of cradle-to-grave entitlements and their ongoing assault on the Bill of Rights. My main problems with Repubs is their under-the-radar expansion of goverment, their apparent desire to drag religion into the realm of legislated morals, and their ongoing assault on the Bill of Rights.
BTW, how do wake up and find yourself American? I vaguely recall your reasons for staying here, but not your initial reason for being here in the first place.

K: Clinton balanced the budget for 3 out of the last 4 years in
office. bush has the largest increase in discretionary budget since
Roosevelt, FDR, not teddy. Bush had the largest increase in spending
since well forever. He had a huge surplus and managed to turn it
into the largest deficit in the history of the world and he did it
in under 3 years. How many veto’s does he have? one and that
is for stem cell research, not to cut the out of control budget.
He is easily the worst president in american history.
And this congress will be known as the worst congress
in american history. And in your old age you can say,
" I was there".
I realize you don’t like Bush, but he & Clinton are just two politicians out of thousands, millions over the years. Even Clinton’s closest advisors (I was just listening to one on Minnesota Public Radio) say he wasn’t really responsible for all the good economic numbers; they readily admit much of that was laid by previous administrations. But that’s neither here nor there- you simply don’t like his policies, and while I can respect that, he did those things with plenty of sabre rattling from both parties.
You seem to have selective memory, Peter. Unless you woke, Rip-Van-Winkle-style on the morning Bush took office surely you should remember the foibles of politicians of both stripes?
