FORTUNE TELLING. A Personal Testimony

\Mass Changes of Consciousness

Our sanity is thinly based on a consensus of majority opinion.
What few of us realize is that this base is not static and is in a continuous state of evolutionary changes.
What is considered sane behavior in one Age, can become insane in the next.

As an example.
During the Stone Age, family groups existed purely on the day to day fortunes of the hunt. During that period, which lasted for some 100,000 generations, the concept of giving up the hunt, planting a seed and waiting for months for it to germinate and produce food, would have been considered insane.

This indicates that our base of sanity is defined and entrenched by the social and spiritual exigencies of each of the Ages human consciousness has evolved through.

The natural forces that force us to make major shifts of the mass opinion is primarily based on survival imperative, which, when challenged by the pressures of human populations impacting exponentially on stressed out regional environments, has forced our species to invent four distinct progressions of artificial occupational practices, which, in turn, have dramatically altered the focus of mass opinion.

Thus we have progressed from Stone Age family groups who’s existence depended on the fortunes of the hunt, all men believed, via Animism, in the favors of Mother Nature:.

In the second mass shift of consciousness, Bronze Age clansmen cooperated in agricultural husbandry and depended for their existence on the clemency of the weather, where all men worshipped ancestral spirits who could mediate on their behalf with the weather Gods. Shamans acted as spiritual mediums.

In the third great shift, Iron Age nations engaged in industrial development and relied on their existence via the fortunes of trade. They were spiritually open to scriptural indoctrination and the dogmatic assurance that a single Almighty God was exclusively in their favor. This contract was secured by the belief that and that their royal families were born via divine appointment

In the fourth shift, Steel Age international colonies engaged in advanced technological development, were forced, via the mix of dispirit national groups, to renounce the divine rights of kings. Republics governed by man-written constitutions, were entrenched by systematically deprogramming the mass psyche from rigid scriptural indoctrination via arguments in scientific determination.

From the above it would be fair to state that each Age change is marked by a mass shift of opinion as to what constitutes sanity.

As another example:

In antiquity, at the end of the Bronze Age, before the rise of the Greek mathematicians, all men, great and small, believed that the fate of man lay in the hands of the Gods. As our lives were believed to be pre-destined, oracles and astrologers where consulted as a matter of course. Their predictions regarding the future were taken very seriously by the whole mass of human kind, especially when it related to the fate of kings.

Thus up until about twenty five centuries ago, to believe in free will would be considered as defying the Gods and, in this sense, one would be declared by the opinion of the majority, to be insane.

Then as the mysteries of the cosmos were gradually unraveled with geometrical precision, the accurate predictions of mathematical equations gave rise to logical argument. As this logic gained ground, the opinion of the masses gradually shifted from a superstitious belief in the metaphysical influences of the moon and stars as they moved through the heavens at one’s time of birth, to a Newtonian gravitational grounding in scientific determination.

This fourth great shift in the mass consciousness of a former ape, did not happen over-night of course, nor was it made without strong resistance from the fatalists who stilled ruled over the hearts of men. But gradually and surely, as the cosmic mysteries were revealed with clockwork precision, the superstitious hold on human consciousness was finally weakened and the logic of physics, ruled by the Lodge of Science, took a firm hold on the mass consciousness.

And so here we are today, except for a fringe of religious fundamentalists, all men, great and small, believe that the fate of man lies in the exercise of his own free will and that the position of the stars at the time of his birth have nothing what-so-ever to do with his destiny.

Thus the concept of Free Will challenged the hand of Fate and established a new mass opinion, and anyone today, who believes in a pre-destined fate, and who consults an oracle that can predict future event, is considered via the opinion of the masses, to be insane.

So here’s the $64,000 question:

If the predictions described in the previous posts are considered by a minority to validate super-natural forces that lie beyond rational determination, or by the majority to be no more the sub-conscious exercises of free will – will this majority consensus, which is essentially atheistic, hold true during our fifth great shift of consciousness into the Nuclear Age, as exponential population pressures force us yet again into a whole new paradigm of occupational constructs?

Efficient planet stewardship presents a scenario that lies beyond the current artificial fiscal constraints of an increasingly redundant Steel Age mind-set and its narrow corporate goals. A new occupational contract will have to be instituted in order to accomplish the large scale engineering feats that sustainable planet management demands.

Such a mass shift of consciousness will require a new criteria for measuring our sanity.

For a New Age to succeed it will require an egalitarian global society, no longer at war; who have adopted a global ethic based, not on the policing of artificial political boundaries, but on universal custodianship. It will require all of us working in complete harmony to steward the home planet as a single family estate.

Will such a consensus of the mass opinion be achieved via reliance on an atheistic mind-set – or require a fifth great shift into an ontological belief system, which marries physics to metaphysics?

If past examples of a specie in over-population is any criteria, if this massive brain of our is not fully employed to make the mass shift soon, the alternative, as the pressures keep mounting, is mass extinction.

I’m not a sceptic: regarding esoteric matters, so I read your posts with a non-judgemental eye - it is not my place (in the whole scheme of things) to refute/or not: your stories/claims/adventures.

I think the kind of person one is (disposition/ looks/ intelligence/ sociatel placing/ etc) is what determines our path in life: this, mixed with our own free-will: equates to our life - i.e. society/ parents/ siblings/ head-hunters/ others: guide us down certain paths: we add our own choices into the mix: which then results in our own individual path being laid out before us (as individual as our fingerprints/ no 2 lives will ever be exactly the same).

I do believe in esoteric happenings/ a sense of things yet to come, but still within the realms of reality/ explainable within the realms of science - I will post my own offerings of ‘the unexplainable’ from your other thread, here:

I have many stories of mine & friend’s & family’s ‘weird happenings’ to tell.
My favourite uncle was killed by muggers: a few months later I was alone in the house and the curtains started billowing: even though the window was shut and it wasn’t even windy anyway (I was pretty scared already). Then the smell of whisky (my uncle’s favourite drink) filled the room: he came to mind, but even though I thought it was him causing ‘this’ I was petrified: as he was DEAD! I told my mum and dad about it, and they just said, so blase/matter of factly: that my uncle had paid me a visit.

My five year old son had died of cancer at home, and a few weeks later a strange swirling cloud appeared above the place in the lounge where he had passed away - it was strange, but brought great comfort: one day I looked up and it had gone.
His dad (now my ex - the strain was way too much to stay together) saw it too - we took turns in describing what we saw just to make sure the other could see it.

I have found the death of my son has made me different - I am still trying to find out how? but it keeps evading me (like any good thought does when you try and dwell on it for too long).
(When I was about 17/18 ) I was walking down the road and was struck with an awful sense of things to come/ that something would happen years from now that would change me forever, but I put it to the back of my mind - the bloody nurses at Great Ormond Street hospital would tell me (every so often) that I would never be the same again when he goes - one day (and 9 years later) I gave up trying to get back to who I was, and I’m now having a ball.
No sympathy neccessary/required/wanted: just wanted to share the unexplainable phenomena that is my (and other’s) life.

I was in my local market, and was about to buy a dream-catcher: as I’d been having restless nights/bad dreams - the stall-holder showed me the goods, and all I had to do was hand over the money, but something made me not buy it: even though I wanted/needed this thing.
After standing around umming and ahhing for 10/15 minutes: a lady came along and needed to buy a dream-catcher urgently: as her friends young son was having nightmares: she bought that last dream-catcher!
The stall-holder looked over at me, but said nothing: I went home pondering the event, and still ponder the event to this day… the young soul needed it more than me: I had my wisdom to at least help me muddle on with things, but I think I sensed that a vulnerable young soul was in need of protecting during his sleep cycle…

I now have a dream catcher on my headboard, and one in the hallway (just in case?) I sleep like a baby now/ my recent bad dreams have ceased, but I think it’s to do with mind over matter, and not some mystical power that the catcher contains.

If a weight-trainer tries to lift a weight too heavy for him/her to lift, but then some-one uses one finger to help them lift it (this is called spotting) they are able to lift the ‘impossible to lift’ weight: as the mind is fooled into thinking that the spotter is bearing most of the weight: when in fact the spotter is barely touching the bar at all

I think that’s what life is about: the stronger mind thrives over the weaker/ they have the better life/ more choices are laid out before them… The weaker minds are the ones that cave in all too easily/ will settle for less/ etc…

Thank you for casting seeds. Not all ground is stony.

The world is sorely lacking in seed casters… what can I say…

I/others, have seen/see/experience: things that are unexplainable in normal/average terms, but they have happened none-the-less - I currently have an underlying sense of some occurence that will befall me soon, but have no idea as to what it is: the constant butterflies in my gut have alerted me to the fact, and I await some fate that I know not of, but have no control over (guess one is powerless to control something: when one doesn’t know what it is  )

Until then: I will continue to work, and party, and go out for drinks in the poshest bars in town, and schmooze with people who ‘can’, and await my fate!

I have several children and although I did experience something close to it for a brief period of time, I cannot fully imagine the depth and extent of the grief a parent suffers when a child passes on. That it must change one permanently in some way, I have no doubt. Wiser and sadder for sure. Death is always freaky and it is always hovering near by.

My own experience began with a dream. I dreamt that my eldest son, Sean, died. He was only seven at that time. Though I had lost both parents while growing up, and was fond of both of them, I had experienced very little grief at their passing. I awoke from this dream, astonished by the sheer power and dark nature that grief can have over the entire psyche. The yearning and longing for my dead son made me feel that my heart was torn in half and could never be repaired. One is left totally helpless in the face of death. I was haunted by the feeling for the remainder of the night, and recounted the dream to the family at breakfast the next morning.

That afternoon. while I was working in our design studio, Sean got up on the table and started fooling around. It was hot day and the window was open and the table top was flush with it… He leaned againt the flyscreen. It could not take his weight and before I could move, he toppled backwards into space. The drop from thw window was thirty feet, onto concrete. I do not remember the mad dash out of the struidio and down the stairs. The aweful dream was paramount and the sight of his motionelss body, lying crumpled on the pavement almost killed me.

He did not die. In fact all he suffered was a slight compression of the spine and was fine a month later. He had kept his composure while falling and took most of the shock on hands and feet. His slight weight helped too.

Since that day, I have dreaded having another such dream and can well appreciate why future event is screened from most of us.

All these ‘gifts’ make for a more interesting life, at least ;o)

I have a 17 year old nephew, and whenever his house-phone rings: he can predict who it will be (even if people re-ring/ call randomly: he always gets it right.)

It would be good: to use these gifts for good/ to better mankind: not just one’s self.

It depends on the person and who they’ve loved and feared in their lives. If they’ve got more love from doubters of psychics, quite a while, probably forever. If they’ve got a lot of love from psychics or believers, then not long at all.

You were loved by a women who claimed to walk on walls. This opened your mind. How can someone you love believe?

The question I am asking is not whether I believe or not, for I surely do, but how does a Westerner who has forsaken his pseudo-intellectal stance and reverted back to superstition, and who is therefore forced to live in both worlds at the same time, find friends and influence people?

The majority of people on the planet say they believe in God, and most 3rd World nations put their devotion into some form of daily practice and are consequently viewed as primitive.

In the West a science-based scholastic system has produced a First World society that is essentially atheistic - even though the majority here continue to protest that they believe in God - (which has to include th possibility that one can walk up a wall)

It is this dichotomy between scientific cynicism and pious protestation that I am trying to address. Trying to have it both ways is what I label as pseudo-intellectualism. It is a dangerous step towards mass insanity.

Yeah, I didn’t get that. Your post just saids how long does it take someone. I take that as any, one, person. You’re talking about lots of people. This is a social science thread. Why is our country and state so fucked up?

I don’t get mass insanity, either.

Off the top of my head though, I’d think every culture is going to be filled with contradictions in their belief systems. Us having contradictions with our scientific aethist and our religous ideas is pretty routine. It’s the natural way, not insanity. Eh?

You might want to do something about what you see as a problem. I think you got to see where people get their love and attention from; I think school, church, the news, and places like that is where people get it. When those places change then the country will change.

How do people get love from school? Well school creates a value system based on grades. The loved ones are the ones with good grades. The school teaches science. Science values objectivity. To be a lovable person, you must value objectivity. You must be objective. To change the hardlined view the school’s have to value something other than science, they need new subjects in schools. One with grades that have meaning and significance beyond the school. Since, the most of ‘the other’ subjects like home ec, shop, or art, the grades have no meaning beyond the school, thus no real value is placed on them.

Schools teach us logic good. Thing is, is we believe shit that isn’t logical. We all do. There isn’t enough time in the day to make every decision based on logic. Plus, if everything you do is logical that you are a really boring person.

We are already more than half-way there. What sane society would invent, finance and construct enough WMD to destroy ten planets?
What sane super-power would limit global unity by holding fast to narrow increasingly redundant political and economic systems that artificially divides populations and inhibits two thirds of the planet who are already starving, from full employment ?

Want me to go on??

All of this is basically related to serious contradictions between science and religion - which in turn confuses ethical conduct. So we idolize millionaires who strive to become billionairs and reward scientists who make bombs.

There were no serious internal contradictions for more than 99,000 generations of social and spiritual development during the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages. Aristotlian argument introduced the international contradictions that bedevil us today - this has led to an Age of religious protest and egotistical statements of self-determination in a Cosmos that is essentially indeterminable.

Wrong. Totally unnatural. Basic Family values are universaly agreed upon. Sharing: Caring: Courage: Conscientious crafstmanship: Lovingness: Visionary creativity: Intellectual smarts. What we have lost is God Consciousness - the 1st Commandment - which sets an uncorruptible standard for goodness. Communism collapsed inevitably, simply because Marx threw that standard out the window and tried to replace it with the State. We threw it out the window wnen we repaced it with the dollar. Now every value is determined by the buck.

Read my thread on Child Education RE: Heartstart homeschooling.
It emphasises all seven of our basic family values and begins by instilling superstition from infancy onwards. Love thy God with all thy heart and all thy mind

Easy. Show us the supernatural phenomena to which you appeal. Or tell us how to find them. Give us something more, anything more, than just your word.

It really is that easy.

I would love to find one day, to my astonishment, that there is a whole other side to the world I had never seen. That there are really spirits, and people do reincarnate and walk up walls and on water and psychically connect and that death isn’t really the end. I really would love that. But I don’t determine reality according to love. I determine reality according to my experience and the evidence available to me. The best evidence I have of the supernatural is third-hand testimony of unknown character (often revealed later as unreliable); so I find that the only reasonable course is suspending judgment.

I do not believe that I have any intellectual or emotional biases against belief in the various phenomena classified as “supernatural” or “paranormal”. I just lack any good reason or motive to believe in them.

If you can provide one, you will have as many ‘superstitious’ friends as you like.

If that whole six card fore-telling of my future was nothing more than a fabrication, I should be up for a Hugo Award for science fiction at the very least. Either that or I am one of the world’s most imaginative pathological liars.

 Tell that to countless mystics who have suffered whole lives of self-imposed torture just to catch a glimpse of Divine magik

Well then begin practicing. Try one hundred thousand full length prostrations for starters. Young Tibetan boys wanting to become lamas start with that discipline. It takes about three years, if you do a couple of hundred every day. Careful though, hands and knees start bleeding after the first 100.

Metaphysicians do not suffer fools lightly.
There was once a Zen master who had a fool come and ask him for immediate enlightment - as a basic right just for being human.
The master agreed and made a date with the fool to meet him down at the river early the next morning.
The fool pitched up and the master bade him duck his head under water.
He then grabbed his head and held it under while the fool struggle wildly to surface. After two minutes the master pulled him up.
“While under water, what did you desire most of all?”
“A breath of air.”
“When you desire enlightenment that same amount, you will have it instantly.”

You agree school is an important part of resolving the contradictions. I believe school is the start, but also church, television, film, radio, and the workplace all would need change. The places where family members intersect with the rest of the world and in turn get views of the world to bring back to the family. A family or group on its own will act as they may have in the bronze age or as an isolated tribe may. With the introduction of meeting places like church, school, etc. what becomes a tight network of beliefs, the family, gets challenged and marginalized. Beliefs in these places are introduced to the family that may not be in the interest of the family, but those of the whole of society, or what the past has led us to believe is in the interest of the whole of society.

You should see Satyr’s thread on the Femininzation of man. He argues this, though his conclusions are very controversial ,his premises run along with yours.

By school I presume you mean text-book learning. I do not agree on this at all. Education and learning begins long before scripted information needs to be introduced. It begins in the womb and manifests with the very first impressions that assail the five senses at the moment of birth. Unless there are complications, self birthing in the home environment is essential. So is breast feeding until fully weaned - and zero loss of body contact between mother and infant until the infant sets off on its first crawling exploration of the world beyond mom.

Every moment betrween birth and puberty is a learning moment. All of it should be conducted orally by the parents and older siblings. Only after puberty, when the basic intelligence, character and ethical behavior of the pupil is formed, does text book instruction become relevent and the (biased) views and opinions of the wider world become open to question.

Most people will never experience this ‘other side to the world’ aporia: as they are not able to see/sense/experience it: for reasons I know not of.

I feel that education has made me take many steps back, and not really move forward at all: apart from the subjects I had a natural leaning towards (the arty/ scientific ones, but they are all geared towards profit in the end, and not much else: so studying became a chore: rather than a pleasure).
The powers that be have made us focus our energies on their profit-making, and any psychic energy one may have: is thus used up in this process - I/ others: who do not care for profit/ material goods: can sustain our psychic energy, and are then open to psychic phenomena/ weird experiences: of which I have had a few.

Nope, I am talking about where people learn perspectives/values outside the family. School is one of those places, then church, the television, the newspapers, etc. These common meeting points are what create and reinforce beliefs. The family on its own without contact with these groups/meeting points will have much different beliefs. Look at the amish or the menonites. They have no contact with these mediums. They retain their spirituality.

Wilson you are merely expounding conventional thought. The things our kids are learning in school, church and the mass media are simply entrenching the redundant mind-set of a nation-building Age which is now over and done with. That refusal to accept the challenges of an entirely new paradigm is the base cause of the global-wide problems we face today.

I, together with a gradually increasing number of other educators, am advocating a dual-brain approach to child education - one that allows the imprinted genius of 100,000 generations of ancestral wisdoms a chance to resurface in the buddung consciousness - before all those other left-brain mediums of indoctrination that you champion, shut off the channels that stimulate the right brain. The net result of the current one-sided system is a lamentably unimaginative collective psyche, good for little more than a life time of supervision on the mass production line. Barely 1% realize their full creative genius.

Nah dude, not at all. What you’re saying here is what I am saying. Only you are saying what is taught through these mediums is bad and I’m not. I’m not saying it’s good either. I am only saying, they’re the current means by which the status quo is maintained.
