It’s super interesting to think about how you can zoom in infinitely without traveling any distance.
Reminds me of Zeno.

Or we could say it is a perceptual illusion of movement - which might remind one of Zeno at that level of abstraction. We can’t really zoom with our eyes unless we reduce the distance to change visual scale. If I run towards that line of trees parts will get bigger and more detailed. That’s our zooming. Or moving the page closer and closer to my eye. Since that is our bodies’ way of zooming - moving something or traveling the whole body - it seems like distance is shortening when something is zooming (through lenses or in the case of that ZoomQuilt, which is generating a sequence of newly drawn or rendered nested images to create the illusion of zooming which then creates the illusion of movement). “fractal non-distance” is the experience of the brain’s spatial interpretation being triggered by a transformation of scale. Faked, in the video, or created, via lenses.
It’s like the Shepard Tone, there with audition.
Depends on your definition of distance, doesnt it? Afterall, the scales change as you move.
What really moves?
microscopes bring the in out, telescopes bring the out in…nothing moves
Yes, lenses are remarkable things. They seem to reduce distance and increase scale.
Perspective moves. Scale moves. Distance factor moves.
If nothing moved, your view would not change either, but sure: Your body is not going anywhere.
At extreme distances let’s say from the point of view from the limits of the conceivable//televisinle/universe that telescopes (radio/lensmi/electro microscope ; that’s trying to measure the rate of change as the simplest organic/inorganic matter/energy changes, divides, absorbs/is absorbed,
Conceivable to the closest gap between limits,
If there can by any change of state (cognitive- between perception and preceptor ; then would that validate Russel’s ‘sense data’?

Or naively put, would there even be sense to consider such data as totally significant
/insignificant?
But without such significance of even the minimally indistinct, would null collapse all into a non existing existence?
Or ?
