If God created this earth, gave us ‘free will’, we could choose good and evil. So then God couldn’ be omnipotent because he could be evil and good at the same time, he cannot do that which is mutually exclusive. So then that answer’s a possible morality of God question as to why he created this earth and allowed this ‘evil’, or allowed us to allow it.
But then if heaven exists, does that not apply there as well? So Christians can’t have free will in heaven?
PM - I could easily have this wrong, but I cannot divine why “will” is required at all in Heaven. What is there to want? Will is motive. Towards what would we be motivated in Heaven?
Yes, I guess I can see your point there. But am I still illogical in asking why then couldn’t God have created an earth just like a heaven?.. This is my main point with this.
If people in heaven can’t choose to praise God or not, are they free still? Evil isn’t supposed to exist, and sinful nature is supposed to be gone, but isn’t that an essential part of us that makes us who we are?
Again, I am no expert, but I think the idea is that souls are eternal, but that incarnation is temporary, and therefore not the entire picture. I think that will, as I stated, applies only to humans incarnate. As to why God didn’t create the Universe according to a model that you would approve, I can only guess it is because you weren’t around at the time to ask.
Really I am just guessing, though. Haven’t spoken to Him about it. Or about anything else, for that matter.
Quantum physics defies logic and many known laws of classical physics. What if god defies everything we know? Since I do not know what god is, I would not try to say what god can or cannot do. I know it is not an interesting answer.
it was a type error and it was worded badly…
maybe you should read what Connections wrote, try understand it and see if you can make sense of what its saying about your op.
I have nothing to gain from connections post because it was exactly what I was saying, it’s not my fault you both misunderstood what I thought was perfectly easy to understand.
Did you possibly try reading what I said and trying to comprehend it better?
I said God cannot do evil and good at the same time, what did connections say?
“The idea that God can be good and evil is illogical” Isn’t that what I said?
I do not believe that if a God exists, he could do anything and everything. Because it’s illogical, I’m not sure If I believe illogical possibilities exist since I believe in the law of non-contradiction.
But then you concluded that since it is illogical, god cannot do that and so god is not omnipotent. You are assuming that god also plays by our logic and rules. Connections is pointing out that your assumption does not need to be correct. What if, god/omnipotence defies logic and can do perfectly illogical things?
Than why do we skeptics ask God to do logical things? Why then do we act as if that’s a reason against God’s existence? Why then do we demand for certain miracles to make logical sense? Shouldn’t God be logical on our logical terms if we our to understand him?
Good and evil are just points of view. You might think whatever god does is good, evil, or just crazy, but God is going to do things his way, and he won’t worry about our attempts to define and categorize his plans.
Why the fuck must we summon God between ourselves? we can do many things without him, already have made it this far (2006 AD) so why worry? ‘free will’ is an object used for manipulation of citizen rights and the house of representatives power (including the vice president and the cabnet)- just a few reasons why i dont like being american, my “freedom” is as limited as any nearbye criminal prison RAWR sob.
If something or some action is not logical in our terms, then there are at least two possibilities.
the thing that is illogical could not exist since it defies our logic
or that our logic is not comprehensive but limited.
I have a question. Things seems bizarre at the quantum level and sometimes defies logic or known classical physical laws. Should we then conclude that quantum physics is pseudo-science or should we expand/modify our current laws?
I am playing devil’s ( or should I say god’s) advocate here to see if I can learn anything.
