The United States and Canada are no longer autonomous, sovereign nations. They are ruled by an international government (the UN, international corporations and the IMF). The American Congress and citizenry will no longer be consulted, their approval and consent will no longer be required and sought. The President takes orders from the UN. The voices of the American and Canadian people are becoming increasingly marginalized and obsolete. In the near future, they won’t even bother to tell us when they have invaded another country. We have been bypassed, circumvented, we are no longer part of the political process, we no longer have any say. Even the ceremonial illusions of democracy are rapidly being dismantled.
The UN is an unelected global fascist oligarchy. The UN says jump, Obama says how high.
Libya was attacked without our approval. I say the UN should be abolished.
When the UN sees human rights being violated in a country on a large scale, it sometimes speaks out and asks for action. But the Security Council resolutions are dependent on unanimous votes and the interests of large, powerful countries. Thus, the actions taken look very skewed and sometimes rather hit and miss. For example, why take action in Libya say and not the Ivory Coast, the Sudan, or other countries where the government or military/ paramilitary thugs attack their own people? The answer of course lies in the self-interests of the countries on the council who are actually only looking out for themselves when deciding on a resolution, in this case the oil interests and hegemony in the ME. It reeks of hypocrisy and double standards, but that’s how it is.
Thus, it’s a bit simplistic and reactionary to say that powerful countries are ruled by the UN, lumping it in with international corporations and the IMF. I would agree that an elite kleptocracy in the interests of greed both corporate and private do have control of governments these days, but it is these governments in the pockets of those greedmongers which influence the UN, not the other way around.
My political gut tells me that the UN should probably have stayed out of Lybia, and let it solve its own problems, but eh, I’m no political genius.
Egypt, Tunisia, Iran, Yemen, Bahrain, Algiers - all having massive demonstrations/upheavals etc. I’m wondering why Lybia seems to have been singled out…?
Because Ghadafi is seen as a “mad dog”. His history of supporting terrorism is bad enough, but his speeches says he is a little too tightly wrapped. The middle east has a number of tyrannical leaders, but they don’t do the off-the-wall crap Ghadafi is famous for. Let’s not forget the oil. It’s no mistake that the rebels have control of the oil fields and oil terminals with help from the west. Ghadafi is looking up a dead horse’s ass. Even if he manages to hold on to Tripoli, he has lost the sources of income, and with international assets frozen, he has no way to maintain power. He’s dead. When other arab islamic countries are willing to gid rid of him, it’s just a matter of time. NATO is only there to prevent the slaughter of civilians, but since the rebels are civilians… hmmmmm… They’re getting arms and munitions from someone, and you can damn well bet that it is cooperation among the other middle east countries that is supplying the rebel effort. The Saudis are probably the suppliers, and the countries bordering Libya are closing their eyes to those supplies crossing the borders. After all the humanitarian hand wringing is done, the final goal is to get rid of Ghadafi, his family, and the privileged corruption.
No matter what form of government takes his place, the country only has oil and sand, so deals will be cut to sell the oil no matter who is the “government”. After all the headlines, the fix is in. Hopefully, the poor bastards on the bottom will see a little relief. They’re paying for it with their blood.
In my opinion, there is no countries. We have a cabal of banks, corporations and now politicians (the UN) who reside in no particular country, who have no loyalties or allegiances but to themselves, wealth and power. They seek to destroy all our countries and establish a world government. There will be no left, right or libertarian wing of the world government. It’s members will not be elected by the people and therefore they will not be for the people, but for big business and banking cartels. They will slaughter their own people on mass, as they have demonstrated time and time again. Political, socio-economic and philosophical ideologies are of no concern to them. Whatever increases their power and decreases ours will be called good.
Like Tent said, it’s about oil, but it’s also about far, far more. It’s about the UN Empire. It’s about human sacrifice. It’s about drugs, slavery and arms sales. It’s about the final conflict between the supporters of Zion and it’s detractors (al-Qaeda, the UN funds both sides of the conflict). This conflict will eliminate both east and west, Christianity, Judaism and Islam shall mutually obliterate one another, then the world will be ready for global governance.
So Obama didn’t launch a marketing campaign for the needed Libyan intervention, i respect him for that - it would have been a waste of time and resources selling a forgone conclusion to the public. In any case, Libya was not attacked, Gadhafi was. And a great many innocent Libyans were saved in the process.
An intervention also has great potential in terms of helping the US regain a political foothold in the Arab world post-GWB
Obama knows what needs to be done, and he is doing it - dicking around with an obstructionist Congress would be nothing more than theatre.
The UN isn’t interested in saving civilians, they’re interested in exterminating democracy, liberty and civilians, which is what they’ve been doing in the Middle East and elsewhere. If we had a democracy, we wouldn’t be in these fucking wars. Did you like the war in IraQ?
So they can slaughter, rape pillage and plunder more innocent Arabs and Muslims.
Perhaps you should move to Mexico or China (if you’re not there already). There, you’re guilty until proven innocent, death vans (organ harvesting) and genocide (Falun Gong, Tibetans) run rampant, political opposition and free speach are supressed, the internet is regulated, your thoughts are regulated (there would be no ILP in a Fascunist Dictatorship, or at least it would be unrecognizable). Where the police protect the criminals instead of the victims. Do you like licking steel toed boots?
Yes, yes. The US is the land of freedom, and if you don’t support everything that it does, (or that conservatives do), you need a taste of the brutal dictatorship that is the only option outside our borders.
Can I join in? I boot my cat out from under my feet when I almost trip over her. Does that count? I’d hate to not be a brute… well, at least a little brutish when it’s necessary. Did I forget to say I enjoy booting the cat? Is that necessary to be considered a club member? I guess I could always try to enjoy booting something or someone…
Yeah, funny choice of words on my part. Stick to the OP would ya!
Correction, was the land of freedom, unfortunately, the elites and some of the people fell in love with the Soviet Model. I’m not necessarily a conservative, I’m more or less a libertarian/anarchist/sopharcist, a little socialism here and there is tolerable though, when it benefits the plebeians.
