with all the flooding in the midwest (and where are the protesting liberals screaming for FEMA aid for the drowning “bibles and guns” crowd?) the price of corn is skyrocketing.
“Two years ago then Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (sic) boldly proclaimed, “Democrats have a common-sense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices.” Since she became speaker of the House, gas prices have skyrocketed from about $2.33 per gallon to $3.85 (ACTUALLY OVER $4.00) as I write this. This is a $1.52 ($1.67) per gallon Pelosi premium increase American families are forced to pay at the pump.”
That is a pretty lopsided story. I would prefer to hear the reasons Democrats opposed all of that. I know all of those plans sound fine but, I would like to know both sides before I condemn the frigging morons in favor of other frigging morons. See I am not bigoted, I think they all suck and need to get their dirty fingers out of people’s pockets.
True, but instead of decapitating superfluous politicians, we should be going after oil industry execs who’ve created an artificial scarcity to drive up prices. Incompetent politicians are just that - the people who’ve stood back and watched this happen (all the while trying to make themselves the heroes of the situation).
And beyond the oil industry, the military industry, pharmaceuticals, media and ultimately bankers. Because they’re all playing a distinct and direct role in what’s going on.
Pelosi. Really. You’re going to blame Pelosi. Even though the gas price has been steadily increasing since 2002. While the claim is technically true that it’s been increasing all the while that Pelosi has been speaker, it was increasing at about the same real dollar rate for years before she was speaker. And it began increasing before she was even minority leader. This is an extreme stretch from correlation to causation. You’ve got as solid a case that the popularity of boot-cut jeans is responsible for the rise in gas prices.
The most believable take I’ve heard on gas prices is simply supply and demand. The Saudis have been producing the same amount of oil for years, and the demand has continued to grow because of up and coming oil guzzling giants like China.
Same oil output, increased oil consumption = higher gas prices.
Recently, Saudi Arabia agreed to increase oil production, but how much will it affect gas prices? There had to be a time in history when mankind weened himself from oil consumption, which I would only assume has to worry the Saudis. If we no longer rely on them for oil, it seems they will lose a great deal of power.
You’re ignoring all the other promises politicians have made and didn’t deliver. Even Obama and McCain are making promises about carbon reduction by 2050 that seems a little outlandish…80% and 70% I believe, respectively.
Why vote for either party? Plenty of Democrats and Republicans that I know have said they will be voting for the Independent that looks the strongest. I know I will. I would rather an independent get the votes. At least we know the parties probably won’t own him or her. Can’t vouch for what corporation will own that independent but, hey its all a crap shoot for shit anyway.
