Gay by choice or Gay by bitrth?

Are people born gay genetically or are they some what constructed that way by choice/environment??

ALSO can animals be gay or just humans??

if i had a choice i would be gay
but i dont have a choice

Homosexuality exists amongst almost all animal species. Its actualy pretty common in nature.

2ndly there was a statistic I think of something like 95% of gay men have been able to have sex with women. I would venture to guess that the majority are by choice however there are those I believe to be actualy born gay who would look upon heterosexual sex as disgustingly as we do upon homosexual sex.

I’ll give you an example. I recently saw a documentry of gay orthodox jews. It was really disheartening to see these people. One man tried for 12 years through therapy, ridiculous religious rituals and what not to get rid of his homosexuality because he was religious, and he couldn’t. I thought him to be very sincere and I’ve known of other such cases so i would definitly have to say some people are just born gay but most do choose to be in my opinion.

I think animals can be gay - i’ve got a friend who has a male dog who only humps fellow males - both human and canine alike.

I second this analysis. I’d switch to the other side of the road, at any opportunity. But I don’t know how to use my indicators, nor can I drive :frowning:. Being gay is certainly not a choice, plenty of people would like to/like not to be homosexual.
Further, homosexuality has been documented in 450 species. Shit, there are whole zoos which keep only hetrosexual animals.

If homosexuality is not a choice can you explain why there are so many homosexuals in prison yet they were straight going in.

Having sex with a man doesn’t make you gay no more than a woman having sex with another woman makes her lesbian.

Do you think all those women in those porno flicks are lesbos? No, they’re paid.

Do you think every man who gets his ya ya’s from freshmeat in prison is gay? No, he’s just getting off.

It’s all about what you think about when you close your eyes.

“Having sex with a man doesn’t make you gay”

Eh? You’re going to have to argue levels of gayness. Prison or no, men with men is pretty gay. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) And if it’s only to get off, what’s wrong with the hand? Obviously there’s some sort of psychological changes resulting from being in prison.

'cause a tight vigin asshole feels much better. But you wouldn’t know that… 'cause you are prolly a virgin asshole. LOL

Really, guys who come out of jail arent gay all of a sudden, they just know how to close their eyes and imagine a woman better.

Well lets define.

Being ‘gay’ should be defined as

Preferring sexual acts with a member of the same sex.

Therefore, you can have sex with a man and still be straight. (search for the “on the down low” movement lol)

However, I would say that is being bisexual.

And an interesting stat: Throughout history the average percent of the population that identified as being “gay” has remained fairly constant at about 10%.

THough on the original topic idea, I would venture a guess to say that being homosexual is largely genetic.

“every one is gay it just matters how gay you are.”

some comedian said that but i cant remember his name fro the life of me

Personally, I don’t one can be in a situation that makes him or her gay. That’s just not possible. Like a lot of you said, there are so many people out in the world that would choose to be straight if they could be and choose to be gay if they could be. But then why can’t they? On the other hand, I think we are sll just a little bit homosexual. Us girls look at other girls…compare our butts, our boobs and so forth. Men look at other men in order to rate them if they are potential enemies (( the whole animal kingdom thing)). All of those things are already inbedded in us. As for homosexuals, their genes for looking at the opposite sex are probably just a little bit more stronger than a straight person’s. Also they probably feel a feeling stronger than competition. Going back to the jail example, men are like that. If they want to show someone their power or authority, they do something vulgar or show their dominance with a weapon or whatever ((but since they’re in jail, that’s not an option)). Those men probably don’t like what they’re doing to others, but they have to prove their dominance in some way. I believe that homosexuality is in your genes ((not necessarily genetic and this brings me back to the point above)), however I also believe that there are situations where one’s homosexuality can be more noticeable or stronger. For instance, boys that were primarily raised by their mothers from an early age. The female influence could have had a part in their being homosexual. Yet, I think the influence has to start young. I live with a lesbian couple and I don’t consider myself homosexual nor do I feel that their influence is rubbing off on me. Most likely because I am older and have already chosen or realised that I am straight. But those are just my thoughts…We all have different opinions

Well the thing is they have no choice in prison because its their only sexual activity they get.

gyah becuse masturbateing is NOT ALLOWED

Can’t it be a little of both?

I don’t think sexual orientation is a simple dichotomy. There are genetic predispositions and also social influences that can influence sexual favoritism.

I see sexual orientation as more of a continuum. You have to consider the people that are transgendered or even bisexual as well.

i have a friend who has never been kissed by anyone ever and she knows she is gay. i asked her how she knew she was gay and she said she just does. she said she had a feeling she might be when she was young, but as she got older she realized that she is gay.

I was kissed by two guys before I was kissed by a woman. It was actually in a club, and they kissed me…and I didn’t “kiss back”. I couldn’t bring myself to kiss a woman for the longest time…

Why?

It’s not because I’m gay. It’s because I care too much about what the other person thinks… which is rather straight.

I had my doubts b/c … well I wasn’t sure what was really stopping me from doing stuff… but I guess I just wasn’t ready. However, always, in my mind, I knew I was straight.

I agree with this, but I think there is more to it. Incarceration is “punishment” in more ways than one. To some people it is loss of all the freedoms that matter to them - material freedom, sexual freedom, etc.

To an extremely poor person, prison can be a step up from ordinary life, living at a material level similar to the level they live at when they are not being punished. Or it can be seen as a vacation from one’s vocation that maintains the level of “comforts” he is accustomed to without the necessity to work.

Likewise, a heterosexual person, who hates the thought of homosexual sex (a homophobe) is much more likely to want to avoid prison because he will lose his sexual freedom - the freedom to have sex with the opposite sex. A homosexual person, on the other hand, can be much less concerned about being punished by incarceration, because he is still able to have an active sex life (he doesn’t lose his freedom to be sexual).

The threat of prison is more scary to some people than others, based on what they fear losing, and based on to what extent the things that matter to them will be lost. Depending on someone’s priorities, lot in life and their sexual orientation, the thought of being incarcerated can seem like hell or can seem like “no big deal.”

I also think a lot of homophobic men, who were engrained with homophobic ideas (beliefs) by their environment since day one learn while incarcerated that they are truly bisexual or even homosexual, and they would never have made (or allowed themselves to make) that discovery about themselves if they had not been deprived of their freedom to have sex with the opposite sex which got them to really inspect who their true selves were.

okay, so what makes you more gay. Giving oral sex to someone of your gender to receiving? For you guys, what makes you more gay: Giving it to another grown-ass man in the bung-hole or receiving it in your bung-hole?

Who is the gay one, the giver or receiver?

I just don’t find anything sexual about a man’s body. To me my attraction towards the female gender is all physical. Maybe 100 years ago it would have been mental as well, but alot of women now-a-days don’t fit into the old school gender roles. There are girls more deceptive and hardcore than any man can be.
