That t-shirt is strange. I mean, it Changes Sartre’s idea or at least, reinterprets is. L’enfer c’est les autres, or hell is other people, is the original idea. On the T-shirt where I and other overlap, that is hell. I am as much Hell as other people. I know, I am being fussy and humorless, but you’d Think they would have really follwed the original more tightly.
I used to have a sartre shirt that said, “let’s talk about nothingness”.
If I had one, mine would say
être-pour-soi coming, get out of the way.
I think it depends on what you understand “hell” to be. For some it might just be others who irritate the shit out of them. For example, if you wanted to buy the shirt and clicked on the blue shirt link you don’t get the shirt. You get something you can hang on your wall.

For me, Sartre seemed to be nudging us in the general direction of folks objectifying us. We become a thing to them. We cease to be a subject. With dasein I just take it a step further. I suggest that many of us seem hell bent on objectifying ourselves as well. But it’s been ages since I’ve actually read that stuff.
