If you don’t possess life than you don’t exist even though you exist because you need to exist to claim that you don’t exist.
That’s not always true though, since there are Buddhist meditations that trace the self outward and into the world whether that is via the breath, sounds or other means. Likewise there are loving-kindness (bodhichitta) meditations that deliberately link one’s own heart-energy and positive intention with the outside world, creating a two-way flow where the meditator draws in negativity from the world and transforms it into positivity to release back out into the world.
The entire point of Buddhism in a philosophical sense has to do with the world itself. The world is suffering, etc. It may look like all they care about or focus on is themselves, sitting there quietly with their eyes closed. But that would be a very superficial understanding of their philosophical outlook, intended focus and practical consequences.

If I claim to not exist but I don’t exist then I don’t possess life but then I don’t exist so I cannot claim to exist but then I cannot claim to not possess life which means I cannot not claim to exist not without possessing life therefore I cannot possibly exist, but then insert the words “binary biological processing machine” and “misrepresentation of reality (illusion)” and now it all suddenly makes sense wow amazing I am seeing it right now dig it this is incredible so like I exist because I possess life because I cannot claim to not exist because I do not possess binary non-life therefore I could not be alive to not claim to not possess not-life as a non-existent non-binary non-biological non-machine which also exists and claims things!

There’s a variety of meditation techniques, the Tibetans for instance have entire different multiple systems and traditions devoted to meditation alone. There’s also different mental states of meditation as well and my favorite one deals with the mental astral planes found in Hindu yogic traditions. Mentally altered states of opening your chakras unlocking your third eye as I like to call it.
He doesn’t know what he’s talking about and has made it perfectly clear his dislike of Buddhism which of course I just ignore.
