James, here you can demonstrate your arguments, evidence and/or reasoning in defense of the idea of gods and God. Obviously you believe in such an entity/thing as “god” or “gods”, so here is the place to show us why. Lay some truth on us.

James isn’t saying there’s some physical God floating about, he’s saying God is the summation of all affects.
James does not take positions based on evidence. He simply states his conclusions and copies and pastes a few things.
That is what he usually does. But I have seen him attempt to form actual arguments before. I’d like to see more of that, but he is a closed book. Not sure what he is afraid of. Maybe himself.
He’s an older guy; I suspect that he is afraid of being left behind, of people thinking that his years of experience were for nothing. So he decides to stick to a position no matter what.
It’s a question only of rather or not his arrogance is justified. Nothing else matters, really.

By definition, “a god” is something that determines what can or cannot be. And by definition, “The God” is whatever determines ALL that can or cannot be, ie. “Reality itself”. And I know that for 6000 years, those “in the know” knew that same thing, although they didn’t use your word “god”, but rather “Elohim” (“the sum of all causes”).
God thus is “demonstrated”. Which is just another way of say that God has been defined. Which is just another way of saying that God is merely a word that needs to be defined. Defined into existence.
I have myself attempted to bring RM and God down to earth with James. This seems entirely irrelevant to him however. He is, after all, a serious philosophy.

If you are asking my definition, I’d say simply “A force created the entire universe”, nothing more,nothing less. Thus, all the stories were told in ALL the religious texts in terms of telling how human “should” behave is a fiction (if not a LIE), created by a clever Con-Artists to enslave Mass.
