Turtle, faith belief and knowing are important to the self. In declaring what we believe , have faith in or know, we are showing ourselves to the world. Its like a bear that stands up growls and waves its arms around when confronted by something that makes it worried. We must in some measure show people what we are. While it may seem arrogant at times it is also very courageous to stand up and do so, it makes us vunerable and somewhere inside us we know it so we have to be bigger than life, like a bear showing its size.
Declaring yoursef to the world is actually an act of courage when you know that you have to fight. So you may as well do like the saying says " Go big or go home".
Keep this in mind when you go head to head with someone. Because you are exposing yourself too, this makes you equally vunerable in ways you may not be able to see.

Turtle, you are here exposing yourself to the world showing your beliefs. Now that is courage. It does not matter that you do it behind a computer screen and under a false name. We all do that , there are some real whack jobs out there that can cause us real harm if we put our names on the net, have courage not stupidity. Defense is the best offense. 
We are all bear types when we dare allow someone to know us in any way. We allow them to see vunerable parts. Think about it, we actually talk to strangers, In the ancient days we would have run or killed strangers. It takes courage to be vunerable. We all have a heroic bone, sometimes it comes out at the darndest times. So perhaps you have more hero then you know.
