Think about it… there may be an infinite number of things God cannot do… but God can erase us forever in an instant poof we’re gone, no pain whatsoever…

So the question is why doesn’t God do this for us… to actually make God accountable for an ethical universe.

This is why there are atheists. This is the primary reason there are atheists.

Unless someone wants to argue that it’s impossible for God to kill us instantly when we desire it… and have that death be forever. Then God is even more impotent than the basic tenets of what God means. The Christian Bible says that if you want to die forever… you need to have your soul burned in hell forever. Something about losing your soul in hell to death as the ultimate punishment. Why all the drama? Honestly? Why so much drama?

God would have had the same decision when creating the universe, as that of killing us off ethically. Life or no life, worlds or no worlds.

That he has already made that choice, means surely he isn’t going to change his mind.

Really, if you had the choice of nothing or worlds and life, would you really choose nothing?

Believe me when i say i hate the world and don’t like my life, but i also see that the causes of that can potentially be eliminated. So its up to us to resolve problems really isn’t it.

Universally speaking, to end the world [humans at least] based upon fact, you have to decide if it will always be so bad, and if it has been getting better ~ for everyone generally and not pertaining to individuals.

having said all of that, I find it hard to believe that god would want or let us resolve all our problems. Prometheus n all that.

So your query pertains to a request for god to terminate an individuals life painlessly? Commit murder?

If God visibly acts in the world it takes away our right to succeed and/or live by our own wills. that would make the creation a pointless effort.

Maybe the creation was a pointless effort… for the people who wanted to stay, they could still stay, so I don’t see the problem.

If you invented the next big thing [or x y z], you wouldn’t want that to be because we live in a world that God created in such a way that you invented it. A wise God would create a world where his children have their own free wills do live and achieve. The problem is that if god made people vanish, it would be the same as death to their relatives. A good god cannot do that [as well as noticeably intervene generally].

A wise God surely has to make the program and just let it run? - so to say.

Sounds like you are working with some form of the Judao-Christian God only.

You could erase you and without pain if you planned it for a bit. You could ‘nobly’ erase others, again also without pain.

I don’t think ‘divinity’ can erase people.

It’s far more likely that there is the world and divinity moves within it, that there is a far more ‘organic’ nature to existence - first.

I’m tempted to get rid of this thread, and many others, but, I was under the assumption that we should minimize things like bans and deleting threads etc.

Vaguely interesting thread… you forgot to mention something very important that something infinite cannot be… changing. This means that everything is nothing at all.

Are you saying that e.g. fractals don’t change or aren’t based in the infinite?

Thing about infinity is that reality cannot be defined by it, as infinity doesn’t include the set of non-infinities. So sure, if reality was infinite it would be empty, but it is not. What we have instead is a world/reality which includes the infinite and the finite because it is them and everything else and doesn’t really give a fuck for our stupid definitions.
We look at it and imagine things like the finite and infinite, but thats our ocular perspective and perception of something that doesn’t have nor obey any rules.
