God is love

Or maybe not.

An interesting article on ancient Hebrew thought and language.

An interesting article. As I read it, I could not help thinking how close Am. Native language is to that described as Hebrew. Is there not a mindset in these ways of thought that would not have imagined cars or computers? Chief Joseph could not imagine ownership of property or the white man’s frenzy over gold and silver. “Man belongs to Earth; Earth does not belong to Man”–Chief Seattle. Could the Hebrew way of thinking be considered primitive?

That’s a very interesting question. I’m going to try researching it.

I know that the philosophical and religious thinking in Asia was a limit to science and technology in the area. Unlike the Europeans, Chinese scientists and mathematicians were not able to systematize their discoveries. And when guns were introduced into Japan, they were first improved but then abandoned. Guns did not fit into the martial philosophy of the samurai class.

What is primitive or advanced thinking?
It can only be answered by the results attained. Native Americans were almost completely overrun. That would seem to indicate that their approach was wrong. On the other hand, if current philosophy of reckless exploitation of resources, for short term gain, ends up seriously damaging the planet and its population, then …

Are God is love and God loves me contradictory statements? It is easy to think that if God is love, God loves me. It is easy to think that if God loves me, God is love.

Well if god loved anyone, why would it have tried to keep humanity trapped and locked away in a cage? Tossed away the key but alas there was another.

See ACIM (A Course in Miracles) It states that the cage is an illusion. One can escape by realizing what he already is/has–divinity. We have simply forgotten or overlooked what we really are.

ier how do you know we have divinity

It is told by those who have escaped from illusions, but is only known through direct experience. Eastern religions give paths toward this escape, which is why ACIM is a mix of Christianity and Eastern religions.

What metaphorical cage are you speaking of, Artimas?

And when you say another, do you mean the key or the cage?

how do we know anything about god…we have no idea about the origin of the universe or where we are headed

There was another key that we found. The cage of ignorance and not being free.

Western culture is a mix of Greek and Hebrew influences. Therefore, both ways of seeing god–within or without–are possible and are not necessarily contradictory. For many Am. natives God is both sky father and earth mother.
