I have long believed that satan is the inescapable shadow god casts of himself, symbolically speaking. Since I don’t believe in God, I view this whole god-satan dynamic, as sourced from the Abrahamic faiths, as being nothing more than the shared projection of our idealized notions of what good and bad embody, not actual beings. Their just psychich constructs reinforced thru centuries and millenia of dogmatic indoctrination. Basically, the archetypal notion of [G]od is the shared projection of what we have accepted to hold to be virtuous aspects of being human and therefore desirable to fully embody; while, [S]atan ,being the yang to [G]od’s yin, embodies the antivirtuous aspects of the human condition and therefore something we feel compelled --with justification usually-- to compartmentalize as something outside of ourselves.
