I see a bit of a trend going on, tell me if you agree.
Why does it seem that we are about to be in for a big surprise? We are not at the center of the universe, kings are not special, there isn’t even a god, the self doesn’t exist, freewill is a joke.
What else can they take away, what will be next? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Will people be able to survive as we know it if much more is taken? I am a friend of the truth, but what if we really wouldn’t want to know the truth. What if knowing the truth is the same as agreeing to lose all vitality? Tell me, who isn’t better off believing in god, the self, and freewill? Wouldn’t you be happier if there was a purpose to life, someone watching over you. Wouldn’t it be nice for the world around us to be of some value outside that which we give it.
Any voice that is trying to convince you of something has its own motivations. An agenda if you will. It does benefit certain people if other people think they are, essentially, nothing and life has no meaning. My suggestion: put those voices on the defensive. Question their certainty and rationale. Question their motives for telling you. But only if you want to, of course. Ignoring them is fine also.
Didn’t really understand the replies on this one, but ah I have read Sartre, Nietzsche, and a few other existentialist philosophers. I enjoyed there work thoroughly but now find much of it to be over optimistic and almost religious in content.
Happiness is an illusion and is not something I strive for in life. Truth is something that may be highly improbable to achieve but is still something I search for, no matter the costs (Besides death, of course.).
What are you trying to get at here? Who is taking what away? And what makes you seem to think that you know these things?
Nothing can take away the fact that you are an extraordinary creation of nature. It’s due to the thought of something about you being good or bad that there is the possibility of you being spoiled, but thought is not intended for that at all. The purpose of thought is not always in harmony with the purpose of life. The purpose of life is to survive and reproduce. Thought, on the other hand, has its purpose as protecting and maintaining itself especially in sensual matters.
It’s the thought of using the thoughts (from what you have come to know) to change you into something other than what you are that creates the problem in you. There is no problem with your life as it is. Only for thought does there seem to be one.
to compensate for vagueness, i’ll sprinkle a few sprinkles on my one-liner, lol.
i think that your running through a minefield when you suggest that those things are lies. i think your taking several leaps of faith–don’t be so quick to believe. wisdom listens, intelligence is for douchebags. lol, like… isn’t saying there is no god as equally valid as saying that there is a god? either way its not like you fuckin know. lol, and there is no self? alright descarte, get older. lol.
if you weren’t told that there is a hell, would you still be so adamant about your assertions?
lol
okay
you know what else is a lie? any hope that lurks behind your assertions…or are they purely the manifestations of your ego? do you believe that you are delusional?–icing on the cake. lol
or maybe its just part of being a machine?? O:
perception is the greatest liar.
at this point i feel like one coherent ball of vague, and as long as im a ball im a roll with it
lol
:]
