Good old 'racism only works one way'...

Warning: this news story exposes the hypocrisy of both the judiciary and the BBC

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/4463142.stm

I read this story and clicked on a link to a story titled ‘asian gang who got out of control’ which contains the statement that this gang shouted racist abuse prior to drunkenly beating this (white) guy to death. Minutes later the link from todays story (where the gang were convicted of murder but it was not described as a racist killing) to the older story was removed. (edit - I’ve just noticed that the link has returned) Clearly the judiciary don’t consider it a racially motivated crime to shout racist abuse then murder someone who is of the race that you verbally abused, and the BBC don’t wish to expose this hypocrisy.

I’m sure that if I got drunk with a couple of white friends, went to the local curry house and shouted ‘Paki’ and whathaveyou at the people there (who are actually from a town nearby) then dragged one of the owners out into the street and beat him to death that I would be convicted of a racially motivated murder.

The second story (the older one) is here

SIATD–

racism exists all across the board. I suppose we could come up with at least one article of one race or another being unfairly treated by another race or experiences in real life as well. Some people are just ignorant and injustice happens with every race at one time or another. Dont turn into a skinhead on me now. Dont be as ignorant as others.

It’s frightening to me how people so readily accept the idea of hate crimes and selective morality. Somehow what is seen as reprehensible against a member of one group is justifiable in the context of another. And this reasoning is supported by all sorts of “experts” in these matters. Scary

Precisely my point. Criticise a group of Asians for a racist killing and you get accused of being a skinhead. Criticise the justice institutions and get accused of being ignorant…

Read the articles, make up your own mind. My position on this is clear…

The wacky thing is that I consider those “Asians” to be white people!

SIATD–

Do you think there exists no articles that show whites being unjust to other races? You state in your thread title, “Good old racism only works one way.” You are asserting that racism only works one way and then present as evidence one incidence of Asians mistreating whites and getting away with injustice due to racism. Shall we produce other articles of whites getting away with murder after having done something out of racism towards another race?

You’ve missed the point so dramatically that I wonder if you haven’t done it on purpose…

My point is that if a white person shouts racist abuse and murders someone he is called a racist (if you can produce an article contradicting this then go ahead) whereas when a perceived minority group does it isn’t considered racist. Do you understand this?

It’s a similar prejudice that results in men who commit serious sexual assaults getting up to 15 years in prison and women who commit similar crimes getting 6 months probation…

Racist!

(see my point?)

I with you there, someoneisatthedoor. It statistically happens.

I understand what you are saying and I feel your pain. Feel better now?

eh? you folk do realise that these guys beat other people of a variety of races in the same night?

Of course, if you are trying to beat people up you will insult them in every way that they are different to you, but unless you are beating them up BECAUSE they are different to you, then it is not a racially (or whatever) motivated crime.

Consider this, from one of the articles I posted:
“Another witness overheard them say: “That will teach the white man for interfering in Paki business.””

and?

if they had killed one of they guys who happened to be the same race as them, no doubt they would have said something else which marked them as different; class, orientation, religion, football team, etc.

That’s utter speculation and a poor defence of what was clearly a racially motivated attack.

On the other hand these guys clearly had an illogical (but perfectly legal) sense of identity, being Asian and muslim but eschewing Islam and typically asian culture but nonetheless being racist.

"While the attack on Mr Yates may have had the hallmarks of racism, judge Martin Stephens said the evidence suggested otherwise.

“Between you that morning, you attacked people of all races, white, black and Asian,” he said.

“These, in my judgment, were random attacks carried out on people who had the misfortune to come across you in your drink-fuelled rampage.” "

Hilarious! As though ‘asian’ is one race! As though if a Korean abuses a Chinese person on racial grounds it isn’t racist because they’re all slanty-eyed little bastards*…

Does that mean if I accuse the French of being garlic-smoking wine-shagging pinko surrender-cheeses it’s alright because we come from the same continent? Apparently so. I’m tempted to try out this principal and see if I get arrested. All I need know is someone from continental Europe…
