So why should a government opperate on anything other than need. I have discussed topics on other sites and some people say well “Need doesn’t matter if it is what the majority wants.” That makes no sence to me. Why should a government opperate on wants? Government should be entirely need based. Like do we need a government funded space program or does the government need to spend money on the 10 Commandments display?
I’ve been gone for a while.

that depends on the ends of government…
if government is that which enslaves the population, whatever the government needs is fine…
if the people enslave themselves to the utopian lies of government, they get what they deserve…
if the people rise up in revolt, they get crushed in the gears of government…
we need a government funded theft program because some fools think robin hood was a hero…

The only problem with that principle is who or what has the power to define ‘need’. All you’d be doing is relabelling the jar of fruit preserve if the government defines need (which they do anyway, to a large extent).
