I will refer to the jehovah’s witnesses organization as the JWs for short.
The JW concept of gradualism has been spoken of multiple times back when I used-to attend the meetings.
The claim is basically if you make things worse for people gradually, they wont fight back or react much. The claim is that this is one way that satan rules the world, by making things worse and more evil gradually, so that people wont react or fight back. Although I don’t think the actual satan rules the earth, I think it is true that gradualism is a real phenomenon and it is deadly.
Smoking is an example of a gradualism.
Over many years it kills you, but you want it and the pain is like postponed till later.
Slow kill biological weapons inside of vaccines would do the same thing. Also when the person does die, the cancer causing virus or what ever, would simply be called cancer. Diagnosis isn’t that advanced. And since the people don’t die instantly, nobody clues in.
After reading this I called my JW friend, that’s very active at his kingdom hall and with outreach, and he’s never heard of gradualism. Must be just a local thing.
Ths image I hear for this most is the frog in water that is very slowly raised to boiling. The idea being that if it is done slowly enough the frog does not notice and stays put and dies. I am skeptical about this in frogs, tough I would guess some animals can have their defense mechanisms circumvented by parallel types of gradual pernicious change. Humans, I believe, absolutely are vulnerable to this kind of gradualism. Take cellphones: the controversy is over whether they cause, after many years, brain turmors. That they cause insomnia, stress, tireness, headaches, auto-immune disorders and so on is all very well documented. Also that people living hear masts suffer a variety of diseases. But the focus is on death and like cigarrettes it will likely takes many decades before any one does anything, if at all.
