I gave up a long time ago with pie crust - and put in the pie dough in pieces and press it in with my fingers til it squishes together – and even make a pretty edge. Does anyone know when they are eating it that I didn’t roll it? No.
If you don’t bake - oh well… but it’s my tip for the week! Other option? Buy a pumpkin pie at Costco or Sams. They have the best ones.
Bessy I do the same thing! It tastes just as good…I would actually like a biscuit/dinner roll recipe if anyone has one. And if anyone has a favorite salad or pie I’d be interested in that too!
Are you right about that one! But I have said - (so I repeat) Everyone has at least one crazy member in their family, and if you don’t - you’ll marry someone who does.
Hi PG!
So glad you seem better, hon. We don’t eat salad at T-giving, but I have a million salad recipes, but my best is chopped Romaine lettuce with my famous garlicy Caesar dressing:
-Soak chopped garlic in olive oil
-crush (a few) anchovies in it (trust me, they dissolve and don’t overpower the taste)
-Squeeze one lemon in it
-sit for a few hours
-Put grated Reggiono Parmesan cheese to soak up the garlic
-a few Tablespoons of mayo stirred in
Sorry, I am not a big one for measuring. So good that you may wanna cry, but make sure your man likes garlic!
Rolls? Not so much into the roll thing, so I do the tube kind that you bang on the side of the counter, seperate and bake. Pretty good actually
Thanks Bessy! Hmm, it does sound yummy but I like my dressings to be a lil sweet…Where are all the other recipes I guess we’re the only ones that like talking about food People are holding out! Bessy, haha, yes pop-up can biscuits are good…but not as good as dinner rolls but I can get those ready done too I guess…So what will your menu look like this Thanksgiving Bessy? Anything besides the usual, turkey,-stuffing-biscuit-pie-dinner???
Roasted Chickens (huge ones - we hate turkey)
Glazed Ham
stuffing (sage sausage and water chestnuts… I make the best!)
mashed potatoes
acorn squash w/ brown sugar
Horseradish creamed carrots (really, really good)
creamed pearl onions
fresh peas
sweet and sour red cabbage (hot) family recipe passed down
cranberry sauce
cranberry/orange relish (homemade)
pumpkin bread
my famous sour cream apple pie
pumpkin pies (buy them at Costco) w/ Cool Whip
Why am I on the internet? I am doing all the cooking today. But hey, my kids are doing all the cleaning up - that is my deal!
Peel, quarter and steam or boil carrots - not too mushy. Mix in a bowl w/mayo and horseradish to taste. Heat on low. I hate cooked carrots and adore this. Everyone loves it! My mum made it up.
Km,
I will send you a picture… I don’t know how to add it here – Tab showed me once and I can never remember.
pxc,
Come over and chow down.! But you have to dry dishes and have yummy leftovers the next day!!
Ideally you grill the bacon to get as much of the fat and water out of it as possible and melt the cheese on the bread in an oven. The recipe is one I encountered in the well-renowned (locally) Fallowfields, Manchester cafe called ‘Trof’. Probably the best food I’ve eaten for under 10 pounds anywhere in this country. And the most beautiful of waitresses.
Bess, if you would like me to post the pic(s) for you, let me know and I’ll post it/them in this thread. I can even black out faces for those who don’t want to be recognised.
Enjoy.
