Have you ever learned anything here?

I mean…in this forum, ILP.

I won’t post my answer, because although I know I have learned a lot of things here, I don’t know if I can explain what these things are. And I am too stubborn to do so…

Please, if you want to add a reply, add a serious reply. This isn’t a humorous thread.

This may need to go without saying but I’ve learned a fair amount about the nature of societal interactions within an internet context. In other words how people act when they don’t have to face someone in real life.

Other than that I’ve learned a few philosophical anecdotes(sp?) and some interesting takes on certain theories. As well as just random but not so useless information.

For me I use this place mostly for fun, but also I’ve found that just by writing out random thoughts like this, it helps me to remember them at later dates.

I seem to do most of my work as a ‘philosopher’ either when I’m reading or simply pondering different things. Not so much here.

For a pothead you’d be surprised at how much I avoid sleep…

There are many things that I’ve learned, but lately I think that I’m seeing how the youth of the person affects their belief systems and how this is a comment on the structure of our society.

Many people that follow certain seemingly individualistic theories are simply responding to a needed phase in the social program. That’s interesting to me.

I’ve re-learned all the stuff I forgot to remember.

i learn a hell-uva-lot here. the best is i can learn about the news and media here. i would’nt want to go anywhere else for it actually. just asking these guys for the good parts owns sifting through boring articles or other stuff…

at this point i’d like to take my hat off to xanderman for being do damn informative.

also check out my “a comendation” thread in mundane babble,i’d wrote some of it there.

warning:i may or may not actually be wareing a hat!

recently,
how to map a sub-domain, sort of… =D>

I’ve learned that there’s always time to be wasted…

I used to find a lot of information here, and meaningful discussions. As of late though I’ve found very little of value in these forums.

You will find what you’re looking for Rounder.

I really have not learned anything that would apply to my real life. I have read interesting and intriguing ideas, theories and thoughts here, That applies to knowledge for entertainment reasons. To grow inside me that is all.

Philosophy never applies to real life. Philosophy is theory. It is a picture of the world as a philosopher wants it to be, many a time exactly because it is not the way he wants…

vide Nietzsche, for instance…

Philosophy does apply to real life everyday. It helps people get through the tough times. It makes a job easier. It enables you to love with out conditions. Without philosophy the average person would not be able to cope in society. It takes philosophy to be the best mechanic or surgeon or ditch digger. It also takes philosophy to be the worst, to be evil or violent.
All humans are philosophers but, all philosophers are not human.
