I realize that I came off a bit insensitive… I am not glad that this man was executed, I am merely suggesting that law must be respected even if you disagree with it—there are different and better ways to fight the law.
If we established a law that allowed those who already have tattoos to get grandfathered in, I wouldn’t even protest. If I had to remove them I would be upset. However, I value my life a bit more than I value my freedom of choice so if the penalty was death I wouldn’t hesitate to remove the tattoos on my dime or anyone else’s. I would probably vote to negate the law though, and would band together with others that feel the same. Considering that only about 5% of the population has tattoos I would expect that my chances of changing the law are slim.
‘there are better and different ways to fight the law’ - a demonstration of how thirst is smarter than the average bear/kitten. Most people when opposing a law will break it recklessly, often claiming it as their right (which given that rights only exist in law, in text, is rather odd, not to mention stupid) or labelling it with some or other individualist tag. They disagree with something (perhaps rightly) but revert to their own terms, no matter how stupid, when proposing a replacement. Hence why so many ‘radical’ or ‘fringe’ movements fail…
Actually, thirst, I don’t think you were insensitive as much as forgetting how you would feel if it were your kid. I agree (yadda, yadda,) that he was really stupid, and honestly, what for God sakes was he thinking? Everyone knows about those Asian laws. Death penalty? I would love to be loving, sweet, kind, giving and thoughtful like Angel, and just talk endlessly about the power of love, the immortal spirit and the transcendental we-are-one–let’s- all-have-a-group-freaking-hug thing, but (damn it) I want justice when someone hurts my innocent children. I hate to hear myself say it, but in some circumstances I want more than justice - I may even find myself wanting revenge. Forgiveness and time are the great healer, so (as I said before) put these bastards in teensy cells and let them think about it.
I still think the Asian laws are barbaric. I would rather they have given him hard labor or community service for 10 yrs, which he undoubtedly deserved.
I reread that, Angel, and didn’t mean to direct that at you. I just never felt as protective until I had my own cubs. I would kill someone for them. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.
