Hello everyone, I'm back!

I’d have probably come back a bit sooner but all the changes here took a bit of getting used to. Also, Philosophy Now seems to be down at the moment, for some reason.

Apart from the odd revolution or two, nothing much has been happening here in the UK lately, so there’s not really much to report.

How’s the Turd doing?

Haven’t heard from him for a few months but I believe he was planning to go on a long hiking trip.

Welcome back… what has been keeping you away from the Boards?

I think the pace of life has slowed down since the lockdown… which is not a bad thing, as people now have time to think, breathe, contemplate life. Lel

Possibly down forever.

Good to see you (figuratively), hope you’re well.

Thank you. Mainly work, we’ve been very, very busy.

That’s a shame.

Thank you. I’m very well, though the heat doesn’t agree with me.

Hi Maia. I’m surprised you have a job / work.
Welcome back though.
Have a good one!

Thank you. I’ve always worked, since leaving school.

I should use up my shredded lettuce on a salad.
I should do that soon.

I recently got a Nintendo Switch. and 4 games.
I’ve been playing Minecraft and Pikmin 4.

Thanks for your fast reply.

Philosophically, I’ve come to an impass.
Do i let go? Or do a I hold on?
I’m thinking maybe letting go of things gradually.
There’s no rush.

I’ve been attending a Diamond Way Buddhist temple. A Jehovah’s Witness church. and a latter day saints church.

Sometimes I will miss one of them,
but usually i attend each one.
I go to learn and have fellowship / friends.

I hope you liked my post.
I can’t think of much else to say right now.
See you soon I hope

What do you do? If you don’t mind me asking.

Also how been, Flannel ?
I’m glad you are still around.

I’m a care assistant for the elderly.

Welcome back, Maia.

I’m a care assistant for the elderly.

There must be things, I would say, that have to be so satisfying to you about that job.

What do you find to be most satisfying for you about that job?

Thank you.

Yes, I really like talking to the clients, getting to know them and listening to their stories. A lot of what I do involves helping them take part in activities to keep them active, and there’s very much a social aspect too, so its good to know that I can make a difference that way.

I was a geriatric nurse before I moved into nursing management and then general management.

Excellent, it’s a good career.

Maia,I can imagine how satisfying that is, not only to you, but to them also, especially the listening part. A lot of the elderly are not listened to and fall by the wayside.

You might consider yourself to be blessed to be able to care for them and give them moments of peace and contentment. Who knows just how many moments they have left? Who knows just how many moments we have left?

What better way to spend them? You go girl!

Thank you. They do, indeed, seem to gravitate to me for some reason, so if they think I’m a good listener, then I might as well make the most of it.

I did a lot of crisis-management during that time though. I don’t know how it is where you are, but staff shortages and emergencies can exhaust people.
