i am a first year student at university and have (perhaps foolishly) taken a subsid module in philosophy…
i have to write an essay entitled “is knowledge justified true belief? if not, what is it?”, having read descartes, ayer, gettier and dancy, and have no idea where to start. if anyone has any help they could give me?.. i am hugely worried about it!

look at gettier and see if it is justified true belief…
if gettier is right, what does that say about epistemology?

i would say that no, it isnt. ala gettier, but am unsure as to where to start an essay… how do you link what descartes thought to JTB, essay wise?

Read the Phaedo by Plato. It will at least give a view of epistemology from the ancient Greek point of view.
