Hey I'm back!

That’s funny, I thought of you this week, and wondered where you’d gone. Have you been to America?

thnx 4 thinking of me… ywah ive been in the US…and i feel kinda stupid now for working all day without being able to think and feel artistically and philosophically…
i lost touch with my real self.

You did? When you were there? Did you save some money so you have time for yourself now?

I didn’t really save much cause I wasn’t able to…i was basically exploitd cause I was (and still am being) payed about 7 dolars an hour… so without the tax it’d be lik 6.50…or 6…
and my job kinda sux… but anyways… thanks for responding to my thread Sauwelios! I missed you and your wisdom!!!:D:D:D

did I miss anything in the philosophy world while I was away?..
any new trend that seems to threaten post-modernism or relativism?.. or any new ‘absolute’ that has indeed a proof?.
:stuck_out_tongue: :astonished:

Absolutely not.

I take it you are still in the US of A. In what state and/or city?

A philosopher does indeed need otium (leisure, spare time). I only work part-time and spend the rest of the time “being a philosopher” (and sometimes even on the job).

‘He who does not have two-thirds of his day to himself is a slave.’

  • Nietzsche

Yes, though I wonder what he meant by “day” - did he mean it to include the night? In that case, supposing one sleeps for eight hours, one can have eight hours not to oneself and still not be considered a slave by Nietzsche. If he did not mean it to include the night, then one can only have five hours and twenty minutes not to oneself. I think he meant the latter.

Well, considering that it’s rare for me to work more than 5 hours in a day, I guess I’m not a slave…

hey impious, are you a bum? or just rich…haha
…some of us have t work our 3$#%$% off but that doesnt mean our mind is enslaved. :astonished:
