'Hidden' Members

Just curious …

Why would one elect to hide their online status?

BwahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The Hide facility hass been in use more often I have noticed. I don’t see the use in it myself…perhaps it gives the user a feeling of anonymity, perhaps they are bolsheviks, or children who were bullied.

Hiding is Power!
(keep searching)

then again, he could be arrested for indecent exposure if he refuses to hide his member…

Imp,

What a sexist remark! The girls play hide and seek too. Just what we need: a controversy over penis envy.

Well, since no one who uses the feature is coming forth with a serious response, I guess we’re going with this one.

Where is the hide feature?

Just put a blanket over your head while you look at the forums. That’s what I do.

Dude …

No fucking way with that avatar, Centripetal Farce.

Please and thanks.

P.S.

Gobbo: It’s one of the preferences on your profile page.

I elect to hide my online status because it’s ironic. I’ll leave you to work out how it is ironic.

The hidden option is a privilege of private enterprise and democracy. Its very existence denotes conspiracy…why does one want to hide? That veritable fig-leaf of the anonymous internet tragedy. You cowards.

I suspect that those who feel the need to hide feel a little self conscious about being here too much, maybe. However its a little self defeating to post while in hiding, since the appearance of your posts proves that you are here.

I dunno. I tried it once, but didn’t like it. I don’t like the concept of privacy and would rather be sitting naked with you all, …well, at least sarax, arendt, vortical, Uniqor, when he was a she, and Cassandra when she gets a little older. The rest of you can wait out in the lobby.

I hide my status quite simply because I’m trying to kick the ILP habit, and do not wish others to witness my failure.

I live in hope.

THIS is the most honest answer.

ILP PROS

 • Read and learn. - a Blogging (also referred to as a flogging) from a cross section of the world gives you a view like no other.

 • Increase your vocabulary

 • Enjoy the creative process of writing

 • Friendship. I have made two good friends here. I would stay at their house and they could stay at mine.

 • Writing your thoughts WILL make you look at yourself, your issues, your dysfunction, your anger, your bullshit, your compassion or lack there of, and make you grow as a person. I truly believe this.

ILP CONS

 • Time spent away from friends and family isn’t good for those relationships.

 • It IS addicting. I took the computer addiction test online and I scored high in the range of it being a “problem.” for MRL. I already knew it. People hide because they know they have a problem that they don’t want to admit.

Bessy’s score? 9 out of 10. So, the way I see it, da Rasa is right on. Addiction and Embarrassment is the answer for hiding yourself here.
