High taxes- good for me, but not for Bono?

Interesting. And pathetic. Very rich poverty activist Bono is moving U2’s publishing from Ireland as a tax dodge. I guess it’s all well and good for the little guy to pony up taxes for government social engineering, but that’s not necessary if you’re rich & connected.

another rich capitalist selecting government? say it isn’t so…

Freedom NOW!

Yes, even for pansy-assed misguided rockers!

Bono is a self-serving hypocritical bastard. This might be news in the US, but most of us over here are sick to death of him. Feel free to encourage the CIA to assassinate him.

Bono is bordering on the delusional when it comes to his sense of his own importance. But he has been a useful megalomaniac in efforts to fight poverty, so let him have his delusions and his wealth. Being wealthy while contributing to humanitarian efforts doesn’t make one a hypocrite. What would make him a hypocrite would be if he condemned other wealthy people for not giving away their wealth.

If he had anything to do with reuniting Pink Floyd for just one concert, he makes it into my good books. The man who thinks he has the greatest band ever reassembles the truly greatest band ever. Shine On U2s No Diamond

Useful in what way? Has Bono achieved a reduction in poverty? No. In fact, during his lifetime, the gap between richest and poorest has grown, not shrunk. He has utterly failed. But he’s sold a lot of albums to easily-deceived liberals.

Perhaps not. But being VERY wealthy and declaring war on poverty and not giving away the vast majority of his fortune does make him a hypocrite.

Makes no odds to me. He lives in a world where poverty is primarily produced as a result of massive economic inequality. He doesn’t oppose this (either personally or as a policy), he simply uses other people’s poverty to make himself look better. He has achieved nothing and isn’t even attacking the root cause of the problem.

Pink Floyd the greatest band ever? Maybe if you’re into 12 minute songs where they use any and every instrument they can get their hands on just to try to look original and progressive. Now, I happen to quite like the Floyd, and consider them superior to U2, but I can’t go all the way along the branch with you in calling them the greatest ever.

I can’t stand Bono and I think U2 is very good but overrated. And if he were an anti-poverty advocate and did nothing toward fighting poverty he would be a hypocrite. But he does advocate and contribute to charitable causes, so short of give away his fortune, he’s not a hypocrite. Just a delusional jerk. As far as bands go, no band produced such an intoxicatingly unique sound as Pink Floyd. I saw them on acid in 1972, and I haven’t be an atheist since. (jk, slightly)

  1. Pink Floyd
  2. The Rolling Stones
  3. The Beatles
  4. The Who
  5. Queen

Hard to do a top five. A top 20 or 30 is more realistic. I’ll get a lot of Led Zepp malcontents
