I just got the offcial NRA “Handgun Marksmanship Results Bulliten” in the mail today (It lists the rank in skill of all of the NRA members who have competed in some form of sanctioned handgun matchs for the year 2004).
I got rated as 214# (as a Civilian) of like 1,081 in Handgun Marksmanship. That give me the third highest civilian rank: “Master Unclasified”.
thanks, but most of the people on my team are within the top 100…which is really where I should be…but I’m lazy at times, and I don’t practice as often as I could.
Of course, I rate like 1000# of 5000# if you include the Police & Military teams…they allways beat the civilian teams by a ton.
Pleeeez don’t say ‘bimmer’! That drives me crazy. My sister calls me bimmer chick all the time. She’s just jealous. At least, that’s what I tell myself.
I prefer ‘driver of a quality classic automobile’.
Well done on the gun thing, sort of. I think. Er…
Jury’s out on that one. Guns are, after all, for killing people. But then so are bows and arrows and no-one complains about archery.
Shooting. Like I say, the jury’s out for me on this subject. I have no issue with guns etc as a piece of technical equipment, in that respect they’re no different to, say, a soldering iron. What bothers me is that they were designed, and are intended, for killing. You could kill someone with a soldering iron, or a car, or whatever, but that’s not their designed purpose.
I don’t particularly support hunting but it’s preferable to intensive farming methods. Killing for sport seems a bit pointless. Killing for food is OK but should always be humane.
I wouldn’t hurt an animal for fun but I don’t go out of my way to support animal rights groups or charities because there are people in the world who need help first. My mum, for instance, gives money to cute little orphaned kittens, but never spares a thought for the amputees in Sierra Leone. That drives me crazy. Priorities, people!
