Of course we all know about lucid dreams and how we fly etc, but my question doesn’t belong to any supernatural features.
I’ve noticed that in my dreams I can speak fluent French, while awake I can only understand it for some extent (although I’m reasonably good in Spanish, in spite of some incoherences). However, the few French that I know is enough to tell that what I speak while dreaming is accurate, and with a nice accent
Something else: while dreaming I’m funny … I mean, in a sophisticated way. In real life I do rely on puns, but they’re notably less clever.
My question is: assuming there are no supernatural forces involved, and assuming dreams don’t overlap, how can I do something that consciously is out of my reach?
Many people speak languages better when they relax.
It’s possible that your lack of fluency whilst awake can be solved when you are in a more relaxed state, such as being drunk or asleep.
On the other hand, it’s more than likely that you only think that your french is fleunt whilst dreaming.
Nothing supernatural about having a distorted perspective (caused by the usual human irrationality). It is not uncommon for people to dream that they are smarter, stronger, can fly or other such improbably things whilst they are asleep. Doesn’t mean that they actually possess these qualities during this time.
I don’t remember, but was a theory about “alpha” stage of your brain, when you can get intouch with your subconscious. Lets see the brain like a library full with drawers where you deposit information, consciousnessly or not. You don’t use all the information all the time. Some are “lost” in dust, but maybe, in the right conditions of brain stimulation they will resurecte. About funny, maybe you just need to release yourself from your personal “braincuffs”. Maybe your tendency is to be with 100% accuracy in all your actions. Just let it go man, be yourself, not how others want you to be.
That’s where I was headed as well. The first example that came to mind for me was those times in which I can play the piano or guitar. I can do neither, yet this seldom occurs to me as I’m sleeping. I would suspect the example of speaking a foreign language would be very similar: you’re hearing yourself speak perfect French, but I doubt very much you’re actually making any sense, just as I’m hearing myself play the guitar, but not actually having the first clue what my fingers are doing.
