You are unable to move somewhere other than exactly where you are right now. You cannot get another job in another city and find another apartment to rent. Or if you have a home and mortgage you cannot sell your home and get a different one. That is literally impossible for you.
And it is literally impossible for you to walk or drive or take bus or ride your bike to any kind of city or county park or open non-private lands where there are some trees and nature for you to relax in.
The ideology of transhumanism is about creating the “post human”. This is something that is not presently known, an entity or being that surpasses humanity (supposedly anyway).
Transhumanism sees humans today in the same way that we see our ancient pre-human ancestors. You need to understand this. It is not about giving modern humans like us lots of cool tech so we can immerse in VR digital worlds and augment our bodies with cyborg parts like in Ghost in the Shell. That may also happen at least for a little while, but transhumanism is about much more. It is about REPLACING humans as we are right now with something else, which the transhuman literally worships as a god.
They believe once they create the AI-post human god it will reward them and punish everyone else who did not help create it. A kind of basilisk argument. They think it will give them eternal life because they plan to merge with it. Like how musk talks about humans merging with AI. They believe this is the only way to defeat death and save humanity from itself.
In such a world and context, what do you think privacy would mean?
Humans as we are today will not have rights, the post human(s) will take over. What do you think early humans did to our pre-human ancestors? Did we give them privacy rights? No, we killed them.
And even if modern humans are just enslaved or limited somehow, or uploaded into the matrix, the ideal of privacy has no meaning or value any longer. The entire concept of respect for privacy comes from a basic understanding of human rights. Transhumanism has no such understanding. It sees humans as expendable tools to create the Post Human, after that the few ‘elite’ will merge with the new ASI god and live forever inside it while everyone else is either killed or forced to merge too. That is literally the basis of their religion, and yes transhumanism is a kind of religion.
I realize you have a different view, for you transhumanism is about having cool technology and using genetic engineering to have a massive dick while robots serve us in every aspect of our lives and we are given free UBI because the government loves us so much. I get your utopian view and it’s not that bad. Unfortunately I don’t see things going down that way, and I have been studying transhumanism for a long time now and have a pretty good grasp on what it really is.
It may involve saving a lot, or getting a mortgage loan. Are you incapable of doing either? What sort of work/jobs are you qualified or willing to do, that none of these exist in a more small town, rural context?
Well up until now you have been talking about going somewhere into nature. If you want to move entirely out of the cities and into farmland, you could have said so from the start.
But feel free to keep being unclear about your own points, and then making fun of people for not understanding them. Very mature definitely not a cope of any kind.
You keep being deliberately vague about your situation and then adding little bits of details after I challenge you. I mean that is just… silly. Why not come out with it all? This is philosophy. Honesty is everything. Either you honor the truth or you are a cretin fantasizing his own wet dreams, like everyone else.
And no that is not an insult, but more like a challenge to do better. And to stop being silly.
Hooo boy… this… this is such a nonsense topic to have.
If you just scratch the surface you will instantly find that the entire thing has nothing to do with AI, but the usual, classic, permanent, always returning thing: Human greed.
Its like the luddites being upset cause hand sewing is replaced by machines.
How on earth could we keep machines from replacing human workers?
You dont.
Thats how.
If you understand ANYTHING about the question you are asking, then the answers right off the bat would be:
by removing capitalism and profit orientation so there are no incentives for taking productivity and profit as a priority over workers
and ofc by starting a witch hunt for human beings who’d not act in the interest of the workers
And with that you are just about on track to enact communism, which ofc is also a dead end by itself because its hundred different colors of idealism instead of realism and always ends up as a totalitarian dictatorship and mountains of corpses.
In short you are chasing after the dream of an utopia where everyone gets prioritized over everything else and which in no way or shape will come back to tear your face off later, in the form of your precious humans prioritizing their own wellness over the wellness of society, human greed and things like not enough productivity to sustain the very utopia you set out to have.
You are scratching on a topic that is literally as old as humanity itself.
And no we cant figure out a functional system that balances both individuals and society.
The closest we came to that was this very system of capitalism and democracy, but this is failing just like every other because people cant appreciate what they have. Not the workers, and not the employers. Everyone just needs to have more of everything till the system snaps and we can once again return to starvation and death for a few decades.
Yes! Robots are expensive and need robots to make them even if robots make these robots they are still expensive, and have rare earths in them. It’s not unlimited.
But software AI will introduce Communism. It will replace leadership with coordination between needs and capacities.
What we need first is a AI social media server that’s honestly programmed to bring people together based on benevolent analysis.
This seems very likely. Mass conformity of opinions and outcomes, behaviors under control. Trillion dollar flows of capital almost demand this level of predictive uniformity.
Also yes to the first part, and rare earths.. no wonder Trump is desperate for them. China has most of them on the planet. And I am less afraid of China these days than I am of Trump.
This is… a really fucking good idea. Holy shit.
Can you do this? Or suggest this to someone with the technical capability to make it?
Ok this brings up an excellent response idea to the OP. How do we make AI a net jobs producer?
Well for one thing, let’s make it at least benevolent in its contributions to any given scope or context. And social media is a kind of meta-context these days. If AI could manage a social media network with algorithms designed only for benevolent maximization of good human outcomes, what would this result in? Because we already know most social media is designed with the opposite intentions in mind.
If AI could be used to bring people together, to facilitate positive and meaningful social outcomes… this is the kind of thing I have wondered about. I used to use Omegle a lot before it was cruelly shut down. It was the best, and only, very easy free place to meet and chat random people based on your common interests. Funny to me how nothing like this exists anymore. Funny, but maybe not surprising.
AI could be the bridge here to something Omegle-like but even better. With positive moderatorship and algos to create real connections based on actual human meaning. Benevolently so.
I think this was kinda the idea behind “X” when Musk took over twitter and added his own weird AI into the mix. But we all know X social media is nothing but a dirty mirror of the others. In fact the only decent one was Tik Tok, and now Trump forced its sale to the US so they can control it just like they control X and FB and YT and everything else for evil purposes.
I really think it shouldn’t even be that hard technically now that the infrastructure exists. It’s just a question of getting decent people in charge of this stuff. I don’t know how on Earth that can be managed. Can you crowdfund for something like this? How expensive is it to build a platform that integrates existing AI? Can you even integrate existing AI without having it determine all the protocols?
You can’t just build an AI from scratch, only hyperbillionaires can do that. I heard France was working to get its own AI but even if it works it will be ten times less powerful than chat gpt. That’s a large western nation that can’t even produce a useful AI. Someone has to convince Elon to forget about Mars, smoke more weed and eat a lot of mushrooms for a while.
“And I am less afraid of China these days than I am of Trump.”
Im not. I think it’s good what he did in Venezuela. It at least released a lot of people from prison. And I like that he was honest about Americas self interest. A lot of people preferred the presidents who lied about these things because it made them less uncomfortable. China looks rational and it is, but America is the last power on Earth that even wants to pretend it cares about individual liberty. If America falls, all we have is collectivism. I think. Maybe Im overlooking someone.
To me China isn’t actually Communist since it has central leadership. It calls itself Communist but I don’t see how it is. There is no power with the people. In a way the US is more Communist than China because it has some ground up dynamics. I mean from the ground up not dynamics ground up like meat even though it also has those. What would it mean if people could work without politics, if they could coordinate their needs and powers without central leadership. Could that be done with an AI core? Or is this an evil idea?
This Chinese professor (who lives in Canada) just posted another lecture.
He said earlier about this war that Iran can destroy the American empire by destroying the gulf states water supply and oil fields with drones and thereby collapsing them as tourist destinations, which he says is easy for them to do. Is it. Anyway I’ll be glad if we get off oil and go full nuclear.
What happens if the petrodollar goes bust? Then surplus states like China will lose their surplus status, right? Left wing analysts like Varoufakis always complain about the dollar-empire but in a way the US by issuing the default sacrifices itself to keep global trade going smoothly which allows other nations to out-industrialize it. What happens to China if the petrodollar collapses? I don’t think they actually want that. It’s like staged wrestling. They pretend to be wrestling and they get really hurt but they want the same outcome.
It is expensive to build and train an AI, but being a billionaire isn’t necessary. Some number of millions of dollars can get it done. More like you need people with the technical expertise to understand how to do it. I am not convinced France would be near the top of the list in that way. Americans though, definitely.
You are more afraid of China than Trump? Why? China is not starting world war 3. China is not threatening its own allies with invasion and taking their country over. China is not taxing its allies with silly tariffs in a desperate bid to control who they buy and sell with. China is not Israel’s bitch like Trump is, pushing genocide and massive land theft. China is not adding trillions to the US national debt every year, Trump is now doing that. China is not threatening the first and second amendment, Trump is doing that. China is not kidnapping the leaders of other countries claiming a right to violate national sovereignty whenever they feel like it. Trump is.
Trump is maybe the most unstable, crazy person we have ever seen in a position of leadership. He has successfully eroded and nearly destroyed his own political base in terms of any political power or clout left. He has effectively handed control of the US politically back to the demonrats in the next elections. And don’t forget it is not China covering up for the Epstein files and refusing to investigate and charge people with those crimes. Trump is mentioned more than 30,000 times in those files. You know, how he bragged about being good friends with Epstein including how much he knew Epstein liked “really young” girls.
And now we have this crazy evil psychpath who is really just an actor larping as a politician, about to start WW3 because of all the blackmail dirt Israel has on him, forcing him to do it.
I can’t think of anything China has done to harm me or threaten my future existence. Not so for Trump.
This is the basis of a hypothetical future society in science fiction I have read. In that theoretical universe it works fairly well: the AIs manage economic on the larger general level, keep things running, and make decisions about nation-level spending and military and various legal policies and all that. So there is no real “politics” to speak of, the AIs just run things on the higher levels. Within that context, humans are free to work or collect UBI or join the military or go explore the galaxy or really just do whatever they want. Humans still contribute productive work but only if they want to, robots and AI are doing a lot of it already.
But in terms of central leadership, I think that will always be needed. Big decisions require accountability, when everything is communally decided by a committee there is diffusion of responsibility and no one is really accountable. Also, the intellectual power and ability to make smart decisions is watered-down when the decision has to be agreed upon by lots of people.
So even with a network of various levels of AI in charge of things, the central AI or emergent main node of decision-making would probably be inevitable.
Yes, I don’t think China wants this either. No one really wants it other than Iran and Israel. Iran has been waiting for and preparing for this for a long time, they know the US cannot conquer them. But they can do great harm to the US and global supply chains, the US economy is very fragile in that way. Israel obviously wants Iran out of the picture because without Iran, Israel is free to take over the entire middle east in their “greater Israel” project.
If nukes start flying, that’s not going to be good. But that seems like the only logical outcome, once the US and Israel realize they can’t actually defeat or conquer Iran.
And yeah, China is sitting back like “WTF”. China and Russia both are not really running to help Iran, only doing small things here or there to help. Despite being formal allies. China does indeed depend on US stability, but over time China is gradually de-dollarizing and shifting focus to BRICS networks. It is a slow process, the global move away from the dollar and the end of US economic global hegemony. As one commentator says, it is a process that goes “little by little by little by little by little by little by little by little and then all at once.” An extreme exponential. Think how fast the USSR collapsed for example.
