How do you delete replies that you decided not to post

I keep getting messages that something is being edited in another window and it takes me back to a reply I was working on but abandoned. I’ve tried deleting all the words in a post and then doing a new post but it still tells me I have something editing in another window sometimes.

If I start to type a reply and decide against it and then come back to the post later to reply, how do I bypass all the hoops that seem to take me back to my original deleted content I was going to post but didn’t?

I seem to be doing something wrong.

That’s happened to me a couple times too, in situations that don’t quite make sense. There’s a little trash icon at the bottom of the edit message screen, you’re supposed to use that I think

There’s an option to “discard” a previous draft but I could swear I’ve clicked the option and still gotten the message that editing is open in another window. I suppose it’s possible that I was editing two or more posts at the time, though. I’ll see what happens when I press “reply” now.

OK. It worked fine. Maybe I was editing more than one post at the time and didn’t discard one of them.

You can have a separate draft in each topic, and it will save a draft you’re working on if you close the window.

Not sure that this is it, but possibly the steps are something like:

  1. Start reply in topic A
  2. Close the window before posting
  3. Open a new window and start a reply in topic B
  4. Discard the draft before posting, but don’t close thewindow
  5. Try to start a new reply to topic A

Could something like that be happening?

Draft saving is pretty aggressive, the software seems to prioritize not losing data. You can see and remove all your drafts from your profile page: https://www.ilovephilosophy.com/u/garychildress/activity/drafts

That might be it. I don’t recall the exact sequence of events, unfortunately.

However, it’s not a big headache, just a hiccup.
