When I dress fashionably or wear nice labels I feel like such a shmuck and I just want to wear really plain clothing to deal with the guilt. Is that a fallacy way of thinking?
Also, is it wrong to buy and wear expensive labels and designer clothing? Is it maybe even a good thing to contribute to the economy that way or am I feeding a corrupt evil system that goes around preying on people to become victims of materialism and encouraging them to judge others who have not???
Yes, it is incontravertably wrong. You must burn your entire wardrobe. It is evil, it directly creates 3rd world poverty, every stitch is bismirched with the blood of an innocent child.
Go naked, blessed in the knowledge of a stainless conscience. Or create your own clothes from skins scavenged from road-kills.
Or alternatively, be quiet, do your homework, succeed in school, be kind to your parents so they will love you more and you will in turn feel better about yourself, throw away your computer, do more things, meet more people - some of them will be nice, do not expect too much romantically from a fellow teenager, do not feel you have to act as others do to be loved, drink your milk and eat your greens, grow strong and sturdy, watch films and enjoy them but do not believe them, watch the telly but do not allow it to make you afraid. Caution is not cowardice.
Do not put yourself in a postion that allows others to patronize you. And if you do, heed their advice if it is well-intended, and do not complain. You asked for it, after all.
Buy all your designer clothes from a consignment/second hand store that supports a noble charity. Donate all of your old clothes to charity (many charities will pick up the cleaned clothes from your house…phone around). Try not to shop at Walmart or eat at McDonalds.
