I have 2 conflicting ideas: one to live like a king, have tons of sex and find ways to be your advantage whether to decieve or make profits, and pride is most important thing; and the other is to be this honorable person, when someone hits you you cannot strike back for revenge, sex is not a competition, tell the truth when it is possible, and earn a honest satifying income.
Once you fully understand human need you will know how to live properly.
The only reason why people can get away with hurting you and you can get away with hurting them is because of the short arm of justice not reaching into the hidden afairs of humans. Honor and compassion (imo) are the two key factors of world peace and a united society. People who take away instead of work for and create, they are social paracites. They gain but others lose. Making an ally is better for you both in the long term then if you were to take something away from them then run. Civilization was made for the same reason as friendships are, it is because people need eachother. Sadly, in many ways the media fules a compedative and hostile spirit. This is collectively un-productive and un-nessisary but “fun” to watch because of exitement and extreamism.
You should ask yourself:
Do i want conflict and exitement or do i want someone that i can trust?
Also remember that you dont know what you’ve got till its gone. With this in mind, let go of all of you’r desire, all of you’r fears and all of you’r want and all of you’r dreams. This may cause you to feel initialy un-easy, but soon after you will realize the true value of all of those feelings and thoughts. From then on it will be far easier to understand true progress and inner peace.
So that is my opinion^.

It’s amazing how quickly the human mind chooses to think in terms of two alternatives; I guess we’re programmed to fall for the Yin and Yang.
IMHO life is all about the grey area in between the black and white - the Aristotelian mean - for that is where we live our lives most of the time.
Your quote about winning and losing is relevant here, for while you are right in one sense, in another sense losing is the hardest thing (which is why people avoid it so desperately) and winning is as easy as eating ice cream!
It’s a messy business and no mistake (not the ice cream, er well yes).

I think that we are programmed to fall for the Yin and Yang because of sensationalism and extreamism being so “amusing”. Even our imbalance is both a blessing and a curse, but extreams cause even more change, which then becomes even more evolution… hmm… But the state of balance also needs farther development, and needs to be fed by more will of balance. Sometimes the “grey area” is useless.

How should one live properly? What is proper living?
Mini dan, your reponse was not simple and direct yet it is clear to what you say, however, judging from your reponse it seems you know how to live properly. The only question is are you living according what you have stated, are you happy and at peace, and no longer question things anymore.
In the response to filo , I felt your admiration of yin and yang principle, and people found in contemplation either from one extreme to the other or in the middle. So I ask should one be close to one of the extremes, towards the extreme, or in the middle, or mastering both extremes, or neither ( meaning

Absolute peace is as good as death, change is life. Pleasure and pain flow with changes. I am becoming more balanced with time. I usedto care so much that it was too much, and now i want to be able to calmly say “i dont give a fuck!”. =) It is complex, thats what it is… Practicality is above good and bad though, because it is all about making the most of what is. Who and what i am is not a quick fix. I am always changing who and what i am as a person, slowly, antil i find my center. Im only 21 years old and am a vetran christain :S All of that submissive-self-sacrafice shit is hard to get over, but my self control has gotten alot of development already.
I say to you:
First dream a fantastic dream that is above and beyond the now.
Enjoy it, develop it, feel it.
Next, feel let down and empty as you let go of it.
Third, work patiently at life and make what ever is left of the dream into a reality.
I think that what would be best is to master both extreams.
Wouldn’t that be the width of you’r balance spectrum?
Eventualy you could kill, or you could actualy offer you’r life and die for someone. Eventualy you could change very quickly for the sake of you’r core values.

The most attracting word or words you have offer is that you are a christian. When I think of that, when someone claims he is a christian he has declared he is a priest or a priestlike. When he has become like a priest like he no longer thinks like the majority in a sense. Then in one sense your claim or opinion is believable and another claim is that you are liable to error. It is like you are preaching to people, or like a grandpa that teach a grandson, which makes you a crazy lunatic, yet, the humble will respect your opinions but they have theirs.
I can only call a true christian is to be admired, and a christian is a wannabe. A true chrisitian will has to be who found the truth according to his founder and therefore wanted to be convert, not because his parents found the truth and he brings his new baby born to be a convert.
One should never claim who he is because he is liable to lose the persuassion or interests to the listeners. Especially, on a job interview.
And if you are who you claim you are the listeners will know it.
The words “vetran christain”, to me, means someone who was totaly a member and fully believed in the bible and the morals, but then somehow he realized something was so wrong with it all… he fought to be a “christian” but then fought to stop being a “christian”, because he realized he is a human being, and so is everyone else, no matter what religion they are and what they claim is backing them up in thier views.
I guess gadabouds are more messed then christians(?)

how to live is something me and my friend talk about lately and our conclusion was
-u live how u want to become in life (dream/goal in live)
-u live with what u can do in life (talent/gene)
-u life in a role u have to take (being in a job u realy hate, but don’t have other choice)
but still out of those 3 up there, there are limit u have to take, wether it’s religion based or our human moral and law

I prefer to believe that there is no “should”, that we are free to live the way we want, the way we find best. There are many people who’d like to tell the world how it should live, but in fact they themselves don’t act like they preach. This bring us to that cheap talk about the ones who live the right way and the ones who live the wrong way, i.e., the ones who are “right” and the ones who are “wrong”, the ones who live the “truth”, the ones who live a “lie”.
Live your life and let others live theirs…doing that, you free humankind from one more “savior”…

you should live wisely, and that would be according to your wisdom. some people will read countless works of philosophers trying to find the ‘answer’ but they never will. you have to find your own ‘answer’.
in my opinion the best way to live is to live forever (not literally, figure out what i mean)
How should ‘you’ live? There is no optimal standard; there is just life. The finest and worst of things can differ with each person, that is why our ideas of a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ time vary.
In an attempt to answer your original question: Make your own choices, take your own paths. That is how you should live.
