This morning the high court, once again, screwed America big time.
It ruled that a corporation can legally deny medical care if it violates said
corporation religious values. So the corporation can deny women contraception
(the pill and other such means) on the medical benefits it offers women because it violates
a corporation religious values. So what this really means is the corporation already gets the value
of being a corporation (the many, many perks of being a corporation) and the corporation gets
the perks of being a person, for only a person can have religious values. So the end result is
if it violates a person’s religious value, that can be used to discriminate against practically anybody.
So if your religious values are one that homosexuals are against god’s will, (a very dubious proposition to
begin with) then you can discriminate against homosexuals. Using religion to allow discriminate against
people is low even for the high court. Once again, this court has proven itself the ongoing worse court
in American history. Bad decision after bad decision after bad decision. From Bush vs gore in 2000
to this morning, this high court has supplied more bad decisions then the tanney court which gave us
“Dred Scott” decision. We have one decision left and that one might seal the deal on this court being
the most corrupt court in American history. We will wait and see.
well, I see that the supreme court fucked unions big time and its official, we live in a
Corporatocracy. You no longer count for anything. Mark this the day that American democracy died
and was replaced by a Corporatocracy.
going online to some liberal websites and there is some real anger going on.
I don’t believe I have seen the anger I am seeing on these sites before.
I am now guessing the civil war will be within the next few years, not the
10 or 15 years from now I have been guessing. The ramifications of these twin
truly bad decisions will not be truly felt for a few years but wait, American will
rue the day that the supreme court decided to be corporate America’s lap dog.
actually it is. There are medical cases where contraception is needed to maintain or help
a women’s health. One of my sisters need this to maintain her health.
being technological inept and after several sad and pathetic attempts to cut and paste from
WebMD, medical uses for contraceptives, I direct you to the WebMD page on
“medical uses for contraceptives” and that should answer some questions.
That right there is one of the problems with having the government running health care. If healthcare was left to people to take care of themselves, it wouldn’t matter what employers say about anything…
More than you’d think… the pill is used to stabilise heavy menstrual cycles and hormone levels… amongst others, of which many women will suffer from one or the others.
I note that the moronic right-wing religious government of the US, also gave license for the Anti-abortion looneys to harass women trying to seek treatment at abortion clinics overturning a ruling that provided them safe passage within a small exclusion zone.
And they were pretending THAT was unconstitutional.
It seems that the hypocratic oath is now worthless.
Resources are limited and people are suffering from life threatening diseases who are not being treated. Is ‘stabilizing heavy menstrual cycles and hormone levels’ really something that should be paid for by society?
In certain cases those ailments can hinder a persons quality of life, so in those cases ‘yes’ - imagine menstruating profusely non-stop for over a week or two, now imagine going about your daily business while that’s happening… you can’t

K: we tried that over the last oh, the last century and what happened was the greed of the insurance
industry made getting health care impossibly expensive. Last year I spent a month (in over 4 months period)
in a hospital getting three surgeries and the bill came over 350,000 dollars and this doesn’t includes
a one day stay in an emergency room of eight hours where they did not do a thing, that cost over
12,000 dollars. Considering I have a prior medical condition and can’t get covered without my work
insurance, although I hate those fuckers at work, I basically work for insurance because the conditions
really suck at work.
And for this you exchange the freedom to choose what counts as health care. Enjoy your low cost health care. (The evidence of which has still yet to be seen.)
phyllo: There are poor people in America and all over the world who need real medical attention. ‘Quality of life’ versus sick, dying, constant pain.
K: I see quality of life as about constant pain. If you are in diminished capacity for a long period
of time due to medical issues such as menstrual pain and the like, then yes, they need REAL MEDICAL ATTENTION.
Eh, it isn’t hard to convince a medical Doctor of the medical need for anything. It’s one of the reasons legalizing Medical Marijuana is the same as legalizing Marijuana… And, one of the side effects of a system run by government is meds for everyone. Why the hell not, they can just refuse to pay the costs of the meds, like Canada, then the populous is drugged up enough they don’t care about survivability rates.
