Something that has been bothering recently, (Jack Abramoff, what-his-name in Calafornia who took all those bribes, the movie Syriana, etc.) is the tight grip corperations and interest groups have on American politics through cash, (not nagging on a specific side here, both sides are guilty.) I mean, the majority of people out here will tell you that dirty dealings behind closed doors are not in the interest of the American people.
Question is, how can this be curtailed? Extending the McCain-Fiengold bill? Setting up a government watchdog group? Blowing up K Street?
Yes, what to do about this is a capitalist culture. First, several CEO’s, Enron, Tycho have gone to jail. Now, to really dig regarding the corruption of our politicians. Much of this money is buried in the Caymen Islands and Swiss bank accounts.
I am looking for ideas, any all. LOL, how about the government tapping the emails, bank accounts, phone call of our politicians. Tit for Tat sounds pretty good at this moment.
Good idea, no???
I bet if this is done the politicians will overturn the Patrot Act in a heartbeat.
how about, instead of a rich person literally giving a politician campaign money in exchange for votes which may not neccesarily be the best choice for that politician’s constituents, a rich person can simply donate money to the non-partisan govt election information distribution system.
this non-partisan govt election information distribution system will take the place of the silly system we use now. seriously, im not joking when i say that the actual way the system works now is that corporations and other rich people pay money to have their favorite policies enacted. they give money to the candidate or to the party that does what they want. this money is then used to make the most subjective, uninformative and most obviously and certainly biased information campaign they can get away with.
and really, we dont even have to destroy this stupid system that i bitch about in my other recent post. we can totally leave it in place. the only thing we have to change is where contributors money goes.
right now it goes to whoever the contributor wants it to go to. oil companies want their money to go to ted the shriveled slime snake stevens because he will yell “thats not in order. NO THATS OUT OF ORDER” when some crazy lady tries to make oil executives take an oath promising not to lie when “testifying” in front of congress.
the donators should not be allowed to make the decision of where their money goes. yes i know that defeats the purpose of campaign contributions. it should just be a donation to support your favorite government, not your favorite puppet who will push your favorite policies which may or may not be good for the country as a whole. because thats how policies get implemented that arent the best for the country as a whole. thats actually the only possible way besides being crazy or stupid.
and its legal. and nobody seems to care that the people with the most election money are the ones who sold out the most, and the ones with the most election money are the ones who win. so the sellouts win. thats our system.
how come theres never any march on washington about this? i mean id say its the number one most important political problem by very far.
people drove all the way from south carolina to protest a play at my friends high school in pennsylvania with gay innuendo in it. come on god, its time for the apocalypse. please. it will be hilarious.
