The House passed it with 404 votes in favor of the bill. If this bill goes into effect, which looks probable after the House’s advocation of the bill, we will essentially all be considered terrorists. If you write or say ANYTHING that in any way is talking badly about the government, you would be arrested and probably tortured somewhere.
Can’t you people see what the fuck is going on here?! Tyranny tyranny tyranny! For the love of God the U.S. is headed for some deep shit.
Um, the bill seems to pretty clearly prevent thought crimes for the purpose of violence. That’s not nearly as extreme as you’re making it sound. If I am talking out against the government and planning or advocating violence, that’s different that disparaging the government generally. It’s like yelling “FIRE” in a crowded theater.
And thus millions of youtube/internet kids who have jokingly, or seriously, talked about such stuff online are to be booked and tortured. The bloody terrorists! “If your not with us, your against us”. Ridiculous.
I just read through the text of the bill. The text can be interpreted in many ways.
Someone mentioned that “force” can mean intellectual persuasion. If that is so, then many things can fall under this. If you are trying to advance a social cause and offend “a segment of civilian population of U.S.” are you a terrorist?
I see too much leeway for interpretation. I don’t think I like this.
This legislation does not define any crimes or set any penalties.
This legislation sets up a commision to study ‘‘violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence’’ for 18 months and make recommendations. The vagueness of definitions and wording is hardly relevant to any statutory law or the prosecution of any statutory law, since this legislation is not statutory law.
Where the hell you pull ‘‘thought crimes’’ from I can only guess.
You seem to have developed a pathological prejudice toward the U.S. government that won’t even allow them to make a decision before you decide that they have made a bad one.
While I am sure that many unconstitutional laws exist, this is not one of them, this isn’t even a law, this is a study.
I think your concern is better directed toward the ‘‘Patriot Act’’.
Do you expect “them” to just stand by? Violence and terrorism is exactly the tool…
“The burning tire, what a beautiful tool! … It smells good. And wherever you go, you want to smell it.” -Jean-Bertrand Aristide, September 27, 1991.
“Your tool in hand, your instrument in hand, your constitution in hand! Don’t he - si-tate - to - give - him - what - he - deserves. Your equipment in hand, your trowel in hand, your pencil in hand, your Constitution in hand, don’t he-si-tate - to - give - him - what - he - deserves.” -Jean-Bertrand Aristide, September 27, 1991
No, this reminds me of the marijuana advocates who teach the history of hemp; do you wanna make ropes with it, or do you wanna smoke it? Don’t beat around the bush; do you want to make jokes about violence or do you want to start smashing the machine? People get hacked up with machetes for freedom and truth and justice; it isn’t a youtube joke. Don’t confuse these two issues; people who post fart videos on youtube and people who kill and die for their beliefs are not the same. If you are “Using the Web as a Weapon: the Internet as a Tool for Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism” you can hardly expect the establishment and it’s people not to resist you.
