I was thinking a lot about human innateness and what I mean about that is whether or not human beings truly have innate qualities. Whether or not there is a universal ‘trait’ that all humans possess. I know that existentialists don’t believe in any universal truth whatsoever, but if that is true than psychology cannot possibly exist.
What some people seem to differ on is whether or not humans have any innate qualities. Some people might say that psychology is a waste and that the study of the human mind is impossible because you cannot enter someone else’s head and understand and perceive what they are seeing, hearing, and feeling.
The study of psychology is a purely objective art. It is objective for the reason that human beings have the same innate qualities, whoever you are. Some innate qualities for example are the five senses. Because all human beings can relate to the five senses they must be similar. Current day philosophy loves using Hitler as an example because of his ‘evil’ intents on controlling the world.
A prime example of innate qualities is Adolf Hitler. Hitler killed (not himself physically) millions and millions of people. Even though he killed so many people, and most of us today would say that he is an evil man (depending on what you consider evil is), did he not show any emotion? He showed emotion to his fellow Germans and he showed emotion to his family. Hitler also had the basic five senses to give him his innate humanness. Humanness is being human, and carrying those innate qualities previously mentioned.
Because we can agree on the fact that there is a universal truth that human beings carry some of the same traits, we use psychology to help us understand humans more.
I want to know everyone’s view on this.
