Humans insignificant

For your discussion. I still am attempting to find out if someone can be significant or not. And when I mean significant–I mean someone immortal–in any way possible. It could be from a fear of dying, but for me it’s more a fear of not being remembered. Or even better a goal to ever be remembered. How does one become an oasis in the desert of time? Can it happen?

If it can’t–why try? Why not look out for your happiness or your satisfaction. I believe that we can be beacons in the sands of time. But nobody has found a way to do it yet. I believe it can be done. Maybe it could be through work. Maybe it could be through living–as Woody Allen once said, “I don’t want to be immortal through my work–I want to be immortal through not dying!”

I don’t care which one it is. But somehow someone can make an achievement so grand that future species in different universes will say, “Wow, that human being, (my name), was a really cool guy.”

For me it’s not a matter of etymology, although that was fascinating. For me it’s an attempt to find a solution to a problem.

Thank you all again for responding. And I’m happy to see that if i cannot make a significant difference in the universe, at least i have been able to make a difference on this site (28 posts is a lot better than my previous thread).
