Humor in a hetero relationship

How important is humor in winning favor of the opposite sex? Is humor a vital part of a romantic relationship?

I just want to point out a peculiarity that I have noticed. In my experience, women say that they are attracted to a guy who is funny. Guys dont seem to emphasize the quality of humor for determining a partner as much as women do. Personally, the quality of humor deserves (or just is) a very low rating on a scale of potential wife qualities. Ideally, my wife would be funny, but it is more important that she be practical and intellectually stimulating. What do you think guys? Do you think humor is an important consideration when looking for a future wife or does it take a far back seat to many other qualities? Do many women rightly consider humor to be of vital importance when looking for a husband or should they consider humor to be of marginal importance?

that depends on how well you take a joke…

Good Humor ,not particularly funny, is important in a relationship. Friendship is important, someone who lets you relax and be yourself. If you can’t cut it as friends then your relationship starts off failing.

Of all the things I could ever ask for… well…
Humor can be good or bad. It’s too plastic to judge it only as a virtue.

Maybe a better word would be: ‘easy-to-live-with’? Not too serious?
