Humor: The Curtain Rods

THE CURTAIN RODS

After her divorce, she spent the first day packing her belongings into boxes, crates, and suitcases. On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.

On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candlelight, put on some soft background music, and feasted on a pound of jumbo shrimp, a jar of caviar, and a bottle of chardonnay.

When she had finished, she went into each and every room and stuffed half-eaten shrimp and shells dipped in caviar into the hollow of all of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.

When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days. Then, slowly, the house began to smell. They tried everything: cleaning, mopping, and airing the place out. Vents were che cked for dead rodents, carpets were steam cleaned, and air fresheners were hung everywhere!

Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days, and in the end they even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting. Nothing worked. People stopped coming over to visit. Repairmen refused to work in the house. The
maid quit. Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move.

A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house. Word got out, and, eventually, even the local Realtors refused to return their calls.
Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.

The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said t hat she missed her old home terribly and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back.
Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was, he agreed on a price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth, but only if she were to sign the papers that very day.

She agreed, and, within the hour, his lawyers delivered the paperwork. A week later, the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home, including the lovely curtain rods.

I just love a happy ending, don’t you?

A perfect end to that story.

Haha, sucker.

=D> lol, that’s pure genius on the ex-wife’s part :evilfun:

A mythos of the urban variety.

to me this is not humor, just an amuseing short story.

to me humor is fast and furious… uhhh i dont even know what popular thing to compare it to. actually suppose an episode of simpsons had nothing but hysterically funny stuff every 3 seconds. i mean after you’ve seen something like that, everything else is just not funny.

It’s not humor in the haha sense, it’s humor in an interesting sense.

I’ve heard it before too

Whether ever true or not, it’s one of those fun revenge fantasies that most people who have ever felt hurt after a relationship has.

Just the kind of thing that you have to laugh at because you know you’d be laughing if you did it.

that poor guy.

the reason why we have the instinct for revenge, as speculated by steven pinker in How the mind works, is so that people know not to mess with us. the reason why she felt the need to get revenge was so that people would notice that if they mess with her, they will get messed with.

in this story, nobody will ever know that she even did it. not even the guy. he could mess with her again and not now that there will be consequences. nothing has been accomplished except for more pain and the shallow pleasure caused by doing what your irrational instincts tell you. emotions always cause such tragedy.

very interesting though. maybe ill do it to donald rumsfeld someday. but ill tell him once he stinks up his new house so that he knows not to mess with america anymore.

My uncle Moody moved next door to a married couple. Every morning the husband would go to work and the wife would do housework and then work on her flower garden. While she was working she would wear short shorts and loose tops. After a few weeks of this, my uncle couldn’t help but think, “Man, I gotta get me some of that!”
So one day he approached her and asked if there was any way he could have sex with her. She thought for a second, then said, “If you give me $50, I’ll let you get what you want.” Now, this was in the early 60’s, $50 was a lot of money! My uncle said, “Okay, I’ll be over here tomorrow, about 30 minutes after your husband leaves for work, with the $50.” She agreed.
The next day the husband leaves for work, and 30 minutes later my uncle shows up with the $50. They do the deed, my uncle leaves at about 15 minutes before noon.
Shortly after he leaves, the husband shows up.
"Was Moody just here?, he asked his wife.
Slightly stunned, she replied “Yes.”
“Did he bring $50?”
Now she was close to panic. After a pause she says, “Yeah.”
“Good, I was afraid he wouldn’t. He was at my office when I arrived, practically begging me to loan him $50. When I gave it to him, he said that he would return it to you by lunchtime.”
