well if you strip away the context, saying a baby is punishment would probably lose you quite a few votes…
on the other hand you might gain a few votes from satisfied abortionists (is that a real word?)
personally i think that abortion should be an option for rape victims or if the baby poses a risk to the mother…
the issue of if its a retarded baby i still have not decided on… (usually they cannot tell anyway).

If you want the baby, then that baby is like a miracle, a blessing to you. If you did not want to have a baby or not yet, then that baby becomes your cross. A child is no more a punishment to the girl-mother than an STD, but an STD is as unwanted, sometimes, as a pregnancy. If you force mothers who did not want children to have them anyway then to them the child is like a punishment for the sex they had. I don’t want sexually curious teenage girls to be forced into having babies they, as children themselves, are not ready to rear, or want.

A baby to a person who was not intending to have a child or who is unprepared to responsibily care for one might be considered a metaphorical punishment in light of bad decisions.

This whole debate is stupid. Imp doesn’t believe that Obama hates kids, and neither does nor will anyone else. This whole thing will only have those who already hate Obama, if for nothing else but because he is a democrat or black, reinforce their position, if that at all (I refuse to beleive anyone within voting age is stupid enough to make anything of this.) No one will be swayed into voting Hillary or Mccbush because of this.
It’s pretty clear what Obama was talking about. He’s saying that a girl who starts fucking at 16 is probably not looking to get pregnant, and that being that she is probably not ready to take care of herself, let alone a baby, her life will suffer. Anyone who’s seen this scenario play out, will agree. There is no implications that Obama thinks babies are a burden to anyone other that but this very specific group, viz teenage girls who fuck for nothing else but for fucks sake, for fucks sake!

Yeah having an unwanted child is a ‘punishment’ having a mistake child is a ‘punishment’ in every sense of the word if you don’t want it and can’t have it aborted before its a real human being. Sure.
Being forced to keep/produce a child that you don’t want because of abortion laws, is punishment. Or at least, torture.
babies always pose a risk to their mother, a significant risk, theres inherent risk in producing babies/giving offspring. INHERENT. Check out the statistical rate of complications for pregnant women, its horrifying. Both fetal and mother complications.
So yeah, no woman should be forced to take this HUGE risk (which it is, compared to other daily activities) if they don’t want too. Period.
You do realize that according to the UN pregnancy for girls 15-19 is the leading cause of female death worldwide right? Pregnancy doesn’t get a lot safer as you age, either. the leading cause of female death worldwide, and if its not, its very close behind. this shit isn’t confined to third world nations either.
and when they find such a problem, termination of the baby should be a viable option…
so when cindy who is fourteen gets pregnant and is told she will die if she has the baby, lets not make any martyrs…
