I heard of this website through a friend who also needed help. I too am lost. I have to type a paper on “Should Art Be Ethical?”. I really wanted to explore the topic of pornography, but I am Stumped on where to take it. My instructor told me to be careful of how I word my argument. He also touched base on the legal and ethical view and how they should never touch. If anyone can help me, I would very much appreciate it.

Let me give you one story. There was a great shift in western art after the Second World War. From being Europe-based America now became the centre of activity in the world of fine art.
Now one very important movement was Abstract Impressionism. (You may have heard of Jackson Pollock, e.g…) Well, Abstract Impressionism occurred during the period of the Cold War and gave the Americans an opportunity to launch an attack on Eastern Block art. We’re talking about a kind of cultural imperialism-cum-war against the Soviet Union and her satellites.
American politicians basically used the example of Abstract Expressionism to ‘prove’ that ‘free’ art existed only in the West! Of course this was a total lie! But it is an example of unethical nationalistic and ideological practise in art.
