Are we truly free?
I’m not talking about politically free or any of the bullshit
I’m talking about biologically free, have you seen waking life?
This epitomizes freedom to me:
An avatar I saw on last.fm of a girl naked standing in a pretty pose with her legs closed. She opens her legs, and a penis falls out. She was playfully hiding it. She looks at it with a surprised look on her face, then she looks back up and smiles and laughs, genuinely, and commences playfully hiding her penis in her butt crack again.
I would never equate that with freedom - why do you?
I have, but I kind of ignored a lot of what was said, because, though it was interesting, a lot of the philosophy was just really eloquent bull shit, in my humble opinion. Don’t get me wrong : I liked hearing the eloquent bull shit. I just recognized it for what it was.

So Tortoise did you have some sort of breakthrough or something?

I found a religion, and I like it.
My view of Discordianism is not like most other Discordians’ views of it.
That’s to be expected, though, with such a malleable religion.
Discordianism may have inspired what you might call a “breakthrough”.
Is that what you think I’ve had?
I don’t really know much about Discordianism. I do know, that Tortoise has been reincarnated…as Churro the Viscous. Greetings, Churro!
It has to do with accepting who you are and what you want.
It’s a little more complicated than that, but I don’t want to go into it here.
You can aim me, if you like.
I’ll give you my screen name.
I have to join aim first - I’m on MSN: as most Brits are…
I miss Tortoise, but I’m sure I’ll get used to Churro! ![]()
I don’t feel very free…
( Atleast in this temporary sequence of my life.)

What, trahne, do you mean by “biologically free”?
I mean, the choices we make in our brain, when you break it down far enough its not all free thought, I gotta find the quote for it
In what sense are we free? In what sense are we [period]?
Well, I accept the statement, “I think, therefore I am.”
You think therefore you are a thing that thinks…what is that?
Moral obligations are CHOSEN, not imposed.
I’m free, then, to choose my principles and act accordingly.
I’m free, even, to choose my principles and not act accordingly.
Though there are limits, I’m relatively free to choose the life I want to lead.
I’m free to travel where I wish (mostly) with or without who I wish (mostly).
I’m free to read what I wish, think what I wish, want what I wish.
I’m free mostly to act how I wish.
Are you free to choose what type of judgment you have, or what things “you” desire?
“To the creative mind there is no right or wrong. Every action is an experiment, and every experiment yields its fruit in knowledge.”
I like! ![]()
Life is all about our experiences, after-all…
You think therefore you are a thing that thinks…what is that?
a mind? That was Descartes intention.

In lieu of the fact that he has no say as to what type of talents his body comes already equipped with, what becomes of his self? Is “he” an agent in the brain, a talent of the brain itself, which manages , for a lack of a better word, these other talents of the brain? But then what is a “he” without a desire or judgment?
Still, the Damned Thing will not fit into their slots.
…which is why human-beings strive to be the ones who create the slots!
That is beautiful. =D>
