Sometimes I picture myself rising to political power.
Sometimes I picture myself commanding a stage much like Andy Kauffman.
Sometimes I see myself as a leader of cult.
The list goes on.
And it hardly matches with reality.
So what to do . . . ?
Most of the time these fantasies of mine feel good, but try expressing them to other people, and you’re met with resistance.
I’m a great dancer for a whiteboy and I sometimes picture myself dancing in the subway tunnels for dollars. Thats not that grand a scheme, but its something I’d love to do.
I dare say everyone has these fantasies. For coping, or hope, for entertainment. People resist your fantasies because of different reasons. Privacy, fear, apathy and mistrust just to name a few reasons.
Don’t worry about them resisting, they really don’t, on the inside they too are picturing themselves better or more then they see themselves as. they just want to keep it to themselves like little precious jewels of life.
Kriswest, I dont know if you live near a city with subway tunnels, but I really am interested in dancing for bucks with a little boombox. Do you know if this is legal?
I read subway rules, and they dont permit it, but yet I still see people playing music instruments.
I live near Boston and want to do it there.
Does anyone have any suggestions about performing in public???
I dont think this is too big an idea. It might be fun.
Kev - Boston, I believe, still has a permit system - you enter a lottery, I think, and can legally perform in subway stations with a permit. Cambridge I think allows street performers on a less formal basis - I think just about anyone can peform in Harvard Square. Oh - by “Boston” I think I mean the MBTA, which has jusrisdiction over the T stations. Not sure. May vary by community.
