Therefore anyone who insults me is morally in the wrong.
What is an insult?
Like⦠if someone calls you a giraffe, do you take it personally?
If they pay you what they think is a compliment, but it is about something you find offensive, have they insulted you?
Insulting you back might be understandable if you initiated/instigated⦠but would it be justified?
And where is the line between ājust messinā andā¦just insulting?
Come on you canāt define what an insult is ? Itās something usually false that is meant to make the person feel emotionally bad.
If itās false it wouldnāt hurt. You know that.
Unless itās a lie meant to have practical consequences that hurt.
Nah. It can hurt anyway. Especially if a similar lie was aimed at them when they were a kid. What, every woman who was hurt by being called a whore was a whore? We are social beings. People throwing hate in words at someone donāt have to be throwing the truth to hurt them.
Then thereās the seed of truth. Or something that might seem to fit. Even these donāt make the insult true, and yet the insult can be effective.
The word whore is like the n word. Donāt say it.
It means prostitute. Then it gets thrown at women who āsleep aroundā for free.
Implying they are as bad as prostitutes.
But nobody would have sex for money unless they āhad toā to feed their kids or were forced.
Unless they value money over loyalty.
In which case men are the worst whores.
Factual & an insult.
Next.
I think you might be behind the times as far as the having sex for money, but the term whore should not be tossed around, agreed.
what the frick? what does that even mean?
That doesnāt work that way. I have never given a hand to someone about to fall off a cliff, therefore anyone who gives me a hand if Iām about to fall off a cliff is in the wrong
@Ichthus77 : An insult is an offtopic remark
I mean that somehow it seems to have become somewhat more normalized and common to have sex for money. The internet allows one to not be on the street or in some place chosen by people using you, and also to not have pimps or handlers. This has led to a lot more women doing this work part-time, short-term, and these are people who are not known to have been abused and are not in poverty. One example, is college students, get expense money or instead of working in a restaurant-type job, do some sex for money work. I wonāt go so far to say it is normalized - porn through onlyfans seems closer to that, and while a kind of sex for money isnāt quite prostitution - but it is much more common. Unfortunately.
How about I have never used violence against anyone unless they physically attacked me first? That seems a valid distinction from āyes, I attack people physically on occasion. I initiate.ā
So, here, this person thinks that if he initiated insults, he would have more understanding for those he insulted insulting him back.
They wouldnāt be wrong. But if you judged people for not helping you - as your soul rose or sank into the afterlife - without acknowledging they were acting (or not acting) just as you hadā¦that would be wrong. In this you had opted just to watch people you could have saved and they watched you when they could have helped you.
the hell it isnāt
Iām going elsewhere.
blows up the thread before muting
I donāt follow you
Thank goodness. I donāt want followers.
Who are you to decide for others whether or not they feel insulted?
You are living in a world where you dont even need to hold opinions to make others feel insulted.
Some view your mere existence as an insult.
So im sorry to correct you on that title of yours but⦠you have never INTENDED to insult any humans. Thats the best you can do. And the rest of the conclusion does not follow.
Insulting is a matter of intention
Feeling insulted is a matter of perception
You can very well flatter someone by insulting them
That assumes morality is purely reciprocal. Someone insulting you may be wrong, but your own lack of insults doesnāt automatically make every response to you morally wrong without considering the context.
So, the thing to train might be how one frames their insulting behavior. If they can manage to frame it as honest, blunt informing, they can say pretty much anything. āI informed you; I did not insult you.ā
Perhaps feeling insulted, but perhaps not being insulted. Perhaps you are unaffected by the predictable someone you donāt respect angrily saying you are a stupid, piece of ____________. But you were insulted by that person. Sometimes the feeling and the being intersect. Or?
And again, since you never really responded: No, insults can hurt even if they are false. Especially if a similar lie was aimed at them when they were a kid. But even if it wasnāt. What, every woman who was hurt by being called an insulting name that implied they did certain things was accurately named by that name? We are social beings. People throwing hate in words at someone donāt have to be throwing the truth to hurt them.
And then if someone calls us stupid or almost any insult, there is usually a way to think there is significant truth in this because we all make mistakes and fail to understand things at some point. It might be nice if being insulted worked utterly logically, but thatās not how most of us are made up, given we are social beings and complicated ones. And if nothing else, some other member of our species is spending time aiming hatred at us.
At least animals donāt insult me.
