You do realize that on farms, birds, bugs and rodents crap and pee all over the vegie plants. It soaks right in but it does get filtered in the plant. Cows eat bugs pee, poo from all of these creatures…As do other farm critturs.
I mean come on everything can be gross if you let it get to you.
Hmm, new diet idea… The Aversion diet! Show cows licking ,Oh this could get gross for some of you, I better stop, wouldn’t want your keyboards made sticky… 
I’m sure beetles are quite nutritious. But then again, you’re just talking about an extract.
The fact is, the beetle juice is completely unnecessary. All it does is color the food red, so if people really have a problem with it, for gods sake take it out. The FDA brought it up and the companies refused to put “insect product” on the labels, and just finally agreed to put “carmine”, or red 40. Its ridiculous that they actually can get away with that. People who are allergic or vegetarians would probably prefer to know what they were eating. If those assholes want to make their yogurt red, maybe they can put in more strawberries or something? Why am I the only one who has a problem with this?

I don’t have a problem with it because I was raised close to food sources, Farming, ranching etc. You kind of get over the disgusting parts and realize “hey its part of it all”. Life is dirty, hard and unpleasant, why should eating be devoid of it?
I find things gross but, I need to eat. If you knew half of what I know you, would look at even organic vegies different. you buck up deal with it, or starve.
Honestly half the time you don’t even want to know what a particular food is… Haggis or Black Pudding anyone?
In response to the vegetarians not wanting to eat the beetles, it is their perogitive to find out what is in their food before they eat it. If they are ignorant of what is in it, that’s their problem. I’ve known what carmine and red 40 are for years, simply because I took the time to find out.
